I had an iPad Pro 10,5 with 64 GB and everything was fine.. TILL - one day, I went for vacation and wanted to store the first season of Westworld on my iPad. I had some shiny, crispy 4K HDR files, 1 episode took like 5-6 GB of space. So yeah, I couldn't transfer the whole season to my iPad, was pissed off and told my self that I will never ever get 64 GB again. So yesterday I ordered the 256 GB immediately and after 10 minutes, I did the math, got rational, canceled the 256 GB and ordered the 64GB again.

And the main reason why was that I can set the 64 GB iPad off against tax liability (the 256GB costs 1049 Euro and cannot be set off against tax liability, because it crosses the 952 Euro limit). So instead of paying 1049 Euro for the 256GB iPad, 135 Euro for the pencil and 89 Euro for the Smart Folio, I will be now paying 738 Euro for the 64GB iPad, 113 Euro for the pencil and 75 Euro for the smart folio. I could not justify 311 Euro for a storage upgrade, I just can't justify that.

So I upgraded to 200 GB iCloud storage instead of 50 GB and I will be fine. So during the whole year, there was ONE situation where I was missing the 256 GB version. But since I've watched the Westworld now and everything else is on netflix, I will be just perfectly fine! Still - in my opinion 128GB should be the entry level, it's a shame! Other than that - I'm so freaking excited about the new iPad. Cheers.

I have a very old iPad model. Third generation, the first Retina model. I've been wanting to upgrade for 2 years now, ever since I no longer could install any new iOS updates. But I thought I might as well wait until they make a design change that's vastly different.

So I have 32GB on the old one. It's sufficient. Sometimes tight if I want to put movies in, but that's rare. 64 should suffice. I'm not going to buy 256 for a "well you never know" situation that might never come.

THIS is a sentence that best describes it! "Getting this.. JUST to be safe for the future".

I seriously considered going 64GB as I'm only using 40ish GB on my current 128GB first gen Pro, but I decided to go for 256GB because if Apple releases Logic Pro and/or MainStage for the iPad (which I don't think is unrealistic now we're getting full desktop engine Photoshop and AutoCAD) I would be screwed. I also see myself using this generation iPad Pro for a lot more "real work" as for me it addresses many of the shortcomings of my current Pro.

I’m torn... the 11” 64gb with student discount is $749... that price looks pretty attractive. I’m between that or the 256gb 12.9” inch which would cost $1,099 and that’s just a huge price different.

Y'all just changed my mind. I had pre-ordered the 256GB iPad Pro and I just remember that my current iPad pro has only 32GB of storage!! So I canceled my order and got the 64gb instead!

My music is in Spotify, my documents and files are in iCloud, my photos are in iCloud, my movies are in iTunes in the Cloud, my books are mostly stored in the cloud (only download the ones I'm actually reading).
Etc.

For my use case there's no reason to get gouged on the price of storage increases. Cloud all the way.

Now that I think about it, I do think it makes sense to get the base 64gb... and put that extra money towards the LTE model.

If you're going cloud / stream heavy, it makes sense to have the option to access the internet without the need to tether if needed.

I think it's more plausible to find the LTE more useful than the extra storage.

I have a 4 year old Air 2 with 37.1 GB used out 64 GB. It’s all I need.

I only buy the LTE for the built in GPS. Can’t do without it.

I have ordered the 64GB because the price increase is huge and because I tend to use a lot less space on my iPad than on my iPhone. Basically, I don’t use or take photos on the iPad and in general have way less apps than on my iPhone. I’m also subscribed to 3 different cloud services including iCloud so I don’t think it’s going to be an issue.

I think similar. Once, the difference between the next memory threshold was not as big as it is now. It was then possible to think about increasing the memory. Currently, it is a waste of money.

I’ve always bought the lowest storage device whether iPhone or iPad. Even the 16 GB iPhones. Never regretted it. I only stream music and video, email, web browse and text.

I am coming from a lte 512gb second gen 12.9 to a lte 64gb 12.9 third gen partly because that’d all that’s available for order without a wait and partly because I hadn’t only used like 30gb on my second gen. Also ordered a 11” lte 256gb one on that one though.

I have gone 256gb ... once Photoshop hits and iOS 13 goes live next year, I think 64 will be difficult to use when photo editing

Pay once, cry once and then enjoy immensely it will have to be!

Plus will be easier to sell at a decent price later on, when 128gb is the new base model
It definitely depends on how one plans to use it. In your case you would cry continuously if you got the 64 and shortly thereafter really needed the 256.

I thought about it but for additional $150 more you get to future proof on storage so I went with the 256GB model of my 12.9" Pro. It basically 13% more to the cost of the iPad but you cannot upgrade storage so I am safeguarding the machine value. I thought about doing the 1TB and getting the 6GB RAM for $1800 but decide that it was stupid since I only currently use 40GBs of storage and the additional 2GB was super tempting even for $1,800!
