Yeah. I will not be getting it. I honestly see it as more of a desktop dock replacement for an external keyboard and mouse/trackpad than a portable keyboard case that should go everywhere. This mostly due to the weight and thickness, which was already borderline, even on my 11“ ASKF. Now you are doubling the thickness and weight, and are solidly in MacBook territory. I already have both Office and WFH desktop setups with non-gimped external keyboards and trackpads for my 11” and for on the go, the ASKF is a nice keyboard.

iPad is still a touch first device for me even though I use it professionally for office productivity - the trackpad mostly gets used for spreadsheeting, making it invaluable and opening up lots of new/old possibilities like floating cursor support in Google Sheets in Safari, etc. but I find that I still use touch + keyboard for most of my OS navigation - multitasking gestures and workspace setup is still way more intuitive using touch, and stuff like app switching and tab navigation, etc is still more efficient using keyboard shortcuts.

Great device for those that don’t have desktop setups already, or those that want their iPad to always be a laptop first instead of a tablet first. It is going to really push those on the fence between laptop or iPad over to the iPad. It is beautifully designed with typical Apple panache, and is easily the most attractive and “futuristic“ iPad accessory made by Apple yet, but yeah... My iPad is an impossibly thin and portable touch tablet to me first, which is why it is so magical and fun.

Hi

Anyone planning to use the new Magic keyboard With the iPad 11 Pro?The emphasis seems to be on the larger iPad.

I have it now. and its amazing. Loving it. Has made my ipad my 85% replacement For my MacBook. Easy to disconnect when I need to start editing via pen etc and easy to plug. Some apps need update To work properly I guess which is annoying.

i have the iPad Pro 11 2020. if that matters

I have the 2020 11. I’m thinking no because I mainly use this as a tablet. And I have a nice MacBook Pro for heavy typing that I need a few times a year. In the 11 I can type using the small keyboard. I might get the Smart Keyboard since I can flip i back and use it as a tablet. But the magic keyboard had a few cons thats hard to live with. Like the heavy weight isn’t good. And lack of flipping the keyboard around to the back isn’t good.
I actually returned the 2020 for a 2018 refurbished. No day to day difference between the two.
