I installed it at home on a new mac pro this week.
Near DC, Comcast 12MB line my download was about 1.2 MB a sec over WiFi I think it took about 6 hours. Selecting the app in the finder and turning off App Nap might help.

download complete no problem...running excellent much more action than last years beta:)

going to enjoy elder scrolls.I opted for the eu server when downloading...not even sure how many are playing online

got a few hours tolerant the basics though the combat is fun:cool:

I found these discount codes online if it works for you. I am running Radeon 4850 and forums say it runs low fps. This game may not be for me.

Use Code: 22SLIC-KDEALS-EXCLUS

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Standard — $46.80 (list price $60)
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited Imperial — $62.40 (list price $80)

not sure what fps i'm getting with intel iris-non pro
its running brill -draines the battery though...the power lead with macbook since 2013 model is too short!

i've been watching twitch streamers play this game and overall i'm not impressed.

its either solo questing or siege pvp. siege pvp has always been cool, but here in ESO you're limited to 5 spells, 10 if you switch weapons.

not to compare it to wow, but wow def does have more spells to use... you also don't have to switch weapons. i'm not sold on ESO... you can play guild wars 2 instead which is basically the same experience just different colors.

I finally got a chance to sit down with it for about an hour this weekend. It isn't bad at all the combat is pretty engaging. Very different then the typical button mashing, and takes some time to get used to. The story is meh, but that is just personal, I look forward to the PvP since thats really why I got the game. Should be a nice break for GW2 for me.

Not seeing that at all.
Looks functional.

Yup works for me now.

What, who's site is this code for, is it still viable ?

As a beta tester, I was offered a free to play Elder Scrolls Online Unlimited this weekend. I might have considered giving it a whirl, but it's an EIGTHY GIG download

Not a good enough game to suffer through that long ass download. I might have a change of heart later, but I think I will stick with playing Bloodborne this weekend...

I have heard it's pretty good after all the changes they made to it. I bought it on original release and was underwhelmed, but figured it's a good enough bet that I paid for the $20 PS4 sidegrade deal.

I'm starved enough for good RPGs on PS4 that I'm happy to play it there, even if it turns out that I don't really take advantage of the MMO bits. It's a harder sell on Mac, where I'm already basically happy with WoW, and have scads of good single-player RPGs.

Good to know. I'd actually like to try this on PS4 to see if it's any better than when I beta tested the windows/mac client. Perhaps playing on controller will open it up a bit. Do let us know how the PS4 version is.

As far as good RPG on PS4, only a month longer for Witcher 3. I can't frickin' wait, it looks so awesome!

My WoW subscription just ended, and I saw the ad for The Elder Scrolls: Tamriel Unlimited, on Steam (PC/Mac), is anyone playing... and what do you think now? it looks interesting. :) Is this open world? How many screen loads to you experience traveling across country? Thanks!

Update: What the heck, I found this online for $33. I'll take a chance. Why pay Steam $60?

Having played this a bit over the last 2 days, I'm enjoying myself. I won't say it's better than WoW, but what it has going for itself is that ES feeling. My first shot at combat, felt awkward, not as good as Oblivion.

I'm playing a Templar and have yet to cast a spell, having a mace and a great sword. . I'll look it up, but are spells weaponed based? Just joined the Mages Guild. I'll ask around. :):)

All spells and skills are based on the skill line where they are coming from. Therefore, if you slot a skill that is coming from Weapons > Two-Handed , you can use it as long as you hold a 2-handed weapon. However, if you slot a skill that is coming from your class skill line (e.g. Aedric Spear > Biting Jabs) you can use it with anything, since all it requires is that you are a templar.

Templars have a wide variety of roles they can support. They can be 100% stamina-based (using 2 handed weapons, dual wield, or bows) or go with the spells game style (hence, magicka users) as healers or magic damage dealers (restoration staves or destruction staves respectively). BTW, they are excellent healers.

At level 15 you can get the 2nd skill bar (and a 2nd weapon slot) so you can support a 2nd role, or enhance your main role. E.g. you can be a healer on slot 1 (healing spells, restoration staff) and a damage dealer on slot 2 (damaging spells, destruction staff). Or - if you choose the stamina damage dealer style - having a 2hand weapon on one slot and a bow on the second so you can have some range damage as well.

In ESO regarding character build, sky is the limit.

Also, make sure you get in the other 2 game guilds as well; Undaunted and Fighters guilds. They offer a skill line each, so it is useful to have them available.

Thanks. I obviously need to learn more before I stumble though my build. I need to find some good resources online. If you are anyone can suggest some, I'd appreciate it. It seems like a very big deal as a Templar, where you assign your skills. Being a magic class, would you be effective assigning skills to standard weapons? Hence the need for some good class build resources. :)

I tried this game at launch for a fair amount of time to form an opinion and found it to be somewhat stale. It's very repetitive and the questing/mapping system was something that I found to be distasteful. It definitely was not worth a monthly subscription in my opinion.

It means something that it went Buy to Play so quickly but the thing about Buy to Play is that is essentially almost always translates to Buy to Win through some sort of item shop. If you're willing to spend your money on being important in the game, then it may be enjoyable. Some games have let greed take over and this agenda run rampant to the point where you are only directly as "good" in the game as the money you spend in the shops.

I am unaware if Elder Scrolls has it set up this way currently or not - I always admired the games that were buy to play and only offered cosmetic purchases via the shop that didn't affect gameplay like the original Guild Wars.

My understanding is that the game is not pay to win. It's been reported that the shop is populated with vanity items, but I've not verified.

There's only vanity items in the shop, like mounts and costumes (that is, items that change your appearance regardless the armor you wear).

Yes, it is necessary to assign weapons skill points for magic builds as there is no skill line that can fully cover your role. Characters are always a "cocktail" of skill lines. Hence, a magic character with a healing role would invest skill points (included but not limited) from:
1. The class healing line
2. Restoration stuff weapon skill line
3. Light armor skill line (as its passive skills favors the casters)
4. Specific champion points to enhance the role
