Sounds like it works out of the box for you guys :) I'm still having 18FPS on Unigine Heaven benchmark. Is there something wrong I might be doing? I installed Bootcamp via the regular Bootcamp Assistant on a brand new iMac 2020 (i7). Any two cents are appreciated 🤞

Well maybe you are running the benchmark on different settings and resolutions than most people. That specific benchmark is usually run on 1600x900 resolution in either ultra or extreme presets. If you set yours to 5K then that might be the reason. Don't focus so much on the benchmark but try out some real world apps, such as a game.

The default drivers have worked quite well for me, and the recently released drivers seem to have fixed the 1/10 steam game crash that randomly occurs but havent had them installed long enough to know for sure. Looks like the flickering line in windows isnt as present for me either (havent seen since update, only ever saw in windows when switching apps during gameplay, but again not ruling out that it may pop up).

I want the true Radeon software but that seems to be even worse for the Pro 5700XT than these basic drivers provded with the bootcamp install, according to the BootCampDrivers forums at least. That's really all I want out of this thing. I thought I'd want better cooling, and I do, but not as much as I thought, the one fan works fine with the beta version of MacsFanControl. I just boost it to 2700RPM before a game and everything stays a nice 55-70C depending on how long I play/intensive the game is. Its been a darn good gaming computer, glad I waited to play the Red Dead Redemption 2 story on this great display.

I've been using my i7 2020 iMac with an nvidia 2070 super eGPU to do some rendering work that requires cuda in bootcamp. Performance is about the same as an 9900k with the same graphics plugged in. However macs under bootcamp have a problem with hibernating and not waking up when an eGPU is plugged in as I have experienced with both a 16 inch MBP and now the 2020 i7 iMac.

AMD released updated Windows drivers for the latest iMac & 5700XT a few days ago, on 09/08.

Those aren't actually updated drivers, the ones from 9/08. Those are just offering the initially released 19.50 drivers for separate download. 19.50 drivers are actually about 6 months out of date (they are from early 2020). Up-to-date AMD drivers would be v20 (20.3 is the current driver version) and it matters quite a bit as you can't run some new games on v19 drivers. As a major example, you can't play Star Wars Squadrons in Bootcamp with official drivers because it requires v20 drivers. Hopefully Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 don't have the same requirements, or else I'm going to be really upset. It's one thing to say "these drivers don't get all the perfect optimizations" but it's another thing for a brand new, high-end computer to be completely hamstrung by not providing proper drivers.

My advice would be to get an egpu RTX card. It ran like a champ on my MBP and razer core. Vastly better than the 5700.

The Pro 5700XT runs amazingly well with the official Apple/AMD drivers. This card can run things like Witcher 3, Wasteland 3, and The Outer Worlds all at 4K smoothly around 50fps at ultra settings. This is with the v19 driver, which is out of date but still good enough for gaming. My point is that there is at least one major new game (Star Wars Squadrons) that simply refuses to run on the v19 driver, and so can't be played on the 2020 iMacs at all because AMD/Apple haven't released a driver with the right version number yet. Paying $700+ for an eGPU to make up for the fact that AMD/Apple won't give timely driver updates isn't a great reason.

that’s your impression and experience , mine differs.
This is why I take all comments on this site with a grain of salt and make my own mind up as others should.
For some they will be happy ( as you) others not so much - it’s all in perception.

My experience with my 5700XT in Windows has been outstanding. 2560x1440 at full details in COD and XCOM2, and full 5k in the Sims4. I’ve installed and played a couple other games but I’m stuck playing these now since they look so good.

Wonder if I have a defective card then, as mine was crap and doesnt hold a candle to my 2080 super [which is now in a desktop pc]

The eternal hope of GPU optimised bootcamp drivers :)

Not high on the priority list I am afraid.
I know this is an old thread, but what is the best guess for the amount of improvement different drivers would provide. Like, is there a sense that updated drivers for the card could net 10-percent gains in framerate or more?

@richinaus

Just checked and AMD hasn't updated their bootcamp driver for the 5700XT iMac since their single update on September 8. Obviously not a priority for them.
