Hi Clubber, My system has Radeon 4780, and planning to put a GT120 for the second 24 LED. Is it easy installation?

I HAVE AN ATI 4870 AND A GT120 running at the same time

OK..this is coming from someone that is actually running both cards..beats the crap out of me how many people can post on a topic that they know NOTHING about. I Installed the GT120 in Slot 3, it does NOT need a power cord. The ATI 4870 uses both of them btw. I powered up the computer with 2 monitors attached to the ATI4870 and nothign attached to the GT120, the computer does NOT like this and will go to a deep sleep after several minutes and won't wake unless you force quit the computer. I then installed a third monitor to the DVI Port ...powered up the computer (now have 3-22" monitors running) and everything has been FLAWLESS since. Everything is great but there is a minor issue of sorts. The computer doesn't like it sometimes if you want to run a high res blu-ray rip for instance across all three monitors..actually it seldom/never works...works beautifully on the 2 monitors connected to the ATI 4870 and beautifully if run on just the GT120...but not across all three...NO BIG DEAL. I like the setup and ordered the card with an education discount for like $134 from Apple. Other than these mega-.mkv blu-ray rips you can work wonderfully across all three monitors ( i can get an adapter and put a fourth monitor if i wish) like they are one.

any Questions???

Additional NOTE on the ATI 4870 and GT 120 Cards

THE ATI 4870 will support 2 monitors, the GT120 will support 2 monitors also....why are there STILL some people who don't understand that all you need is the Apple Display Port-DVI adpater to accomplish this?

thank you

I currently have the ATI 4870 in slot 1 and plan on getting the GT 120 (to run 2 Apple LED displays). Which slot should I install the GT 120 in (2, 3, or 4)? or does it not matter? Thanks

Install the card in the Middle Slot...Slot #3

Install the card in the Middle Slot...as far as Adapters etc...hey..Part of being an Apple user is routinely being screwed by Apple....it's ALWAYS SOMETHING...they have people who stay up nights dreaming up ways to get us....personally I wouldn't buy one of their POS Monitors in a million years...not at the incredibly insulting prices they are asking...it's bad enough what I paid for this MacPro...

Sorry for the 2+ year delay in replying and I'm sure you've figured it out, but yes, working on the MacPro is a dream compared to Wintel boxes. There are plenty of videos on how to do it that would explain it much better than I can, but in short, take off the side panel, unscrew two thumb screws, insert card and reverse steps 1 and 2.

Unfortunately you forgot the trickiest part: Plug the power cable(s) for the video card (the 4870 or 6870 each requires two of them) into the power plugs _under_ the front fan assembly. Possible to do without removing the front fan assy, but tricky...
