Has anyone purchased the live traffic feature yet? Thoughts on the traffic accuracy and re-routing?

Got the traffic add-on.

I haven't tried it on the road yet, but it looks pretty cool. You can set it to "consider traffic" when routing either automatically or on-demand. It also gives a little traffic icon in the upper-left of the nav screen to show all the traffic issues/details near your location.

Just got it. Will try it out on my drive home today. So far the list of traffic notifications seems accurate.

isnt Google going to come out with their own free turn by turn voice GPS directions with traffic soon?

I currently have the tomtom app and love it but I have heard nothing but good things about Navigon so I really want to give it a try. Is there a monthly fee to receive the traffic updates?

I'm curious to see what specifically the other significant (sounding) addition is.

From the App Dtore:
"Extended map area search after destination input"

From the Navigon Facebook page:
"the new update also offers an additional extended destination search"

I wonder if this is integrated internet search similar to the built-in Google-based Maps app, or if it's an extended POI database, or something else.

Nope it's a one time fee, on sale right now for $20, and it will be $25 when the sale period is over.

When you pull up the destination, you can tap on it and it will give a full screen view so you can zoom in and out, you can then tweak the push pin by dragging it around for a more refined destination.

I have both. Overall, I prefer Navigon, but not by a wide margin. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Ah, thanks. I might have missed that.

My wife and I both have Navigon on our iPhones through my iTunes account. Does anyone know whether we'll both separately have to make the in-app purchase or whether after one of us buys it that the other will somehow have it?

There should be a "restore purchases" button in Navigon that will download traffic on your wife's phone after you've purchased it. But I haven't tried it yet... That's just how ALL other in-app purchases work.

I bought traffic on my phone, and I'm installing 1.3 on the other iPhone in the house. I'll get back to you in a minute.

Looks like Live Traffic is only working in the US now. I am in Guelph, Ontario and the closest traffic updates that I see are in NY (Buffalo area - 130km away) and MI (Detroit area - 300km away). Hopefully Canada is active soon, since this looks like a great add-on!

Got it, I was scared for a second.

There isn't a "restore purchases" button, but if you try to by traffic again on the second phone it will say "tap OK to download it again for free" after you enter your password.

I'm curious to know how it is. Please post when you return :)

I second that request. Also, on a somewhat more basic level, could someone point me in the direction of the new live traffic app? I've looked at the Navigon apps and I see nothing that looks like this (either named something similar or priced at $20).

It's not on the app store, but rather an in-app purchase within Navigon. Go to "More" then "Extras" and you should see it available for $19.99.

Thank you so much for your help! I was going nuts looking through the app store wondering how I could be missing something so obvious!
