Just did it. Worked like a charm. The only issue I have is that now iFuntastic sees my phone as "shackled", meaning I can't use it to install stuff. I can install via Installer just fine, but I like iFuntastic for adding themes.

so does it automatically put the installer on there? or how did you get it on?

Awesome.

I just installed it and it was superb. Safari hanged for about 5 minutes or so. I turned off my phone, turn on. Nothing. Turn it off again, turned it back on--[[insert dramatic music]] TA-DA installer app was added.

i'm just worried that i will install it and bam two days later iphone update that syncs notes (which should have been part of the last update)

AppSnap - new jailbreak tool - over the web

i couldn't find any mention of this elsewhere, but a new jailbreak tool has been released called AppSnap. it doesn't require a mac or a pc though - it does all it's dastardly work directly over the web
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/10/29/iphone_web_jailbreak/

do you think this will mean the 1.1.2 firmware will be released sooner rather than later then? also, the firmware will need something cool to make it worthwhile upgrading to instead of just hacking 1.1.1 - so whether or not you agree with all this hacking, hopefully it'll provide incentive to Apple to bring more features to the iPhone for all of us

edit: found another website talking about it - slightly more info and the url for it also:

Has anyone put this on their iphone yet?

Yea, it worked like a champ! Took me about 15 seconds (via wi-fi) to do...! Finally back up & customized how I liked it.

My only hitch is getting all that crap that I had downloaded, downloaded again! :p "Customize" doesn't work as well as it used to, so I'm just trying to get used to its glitches!

I just installed via AppSnapp, and it was too easy! I'm back to having my icons in the order that I want, and having the applications that I want on there. I love this phone.

Okay... So, what does this actually DO?

Or should I say, what Third party apps am i missing out on?

Does this mean i can try to install FlashLight?

It took me several attempts to get this to work and when it finally did I managed to install the Community Sources in Installer.app, then Summerboard, then fiddled around with a few different themes and was trying to view the More Info page of a Summerboard theme in Installer.app when my iPhone crashed and went into recovery mode giving me nothing but the connect to iTunes graphic.

I was able to restore it back to the defaults from my work PC so I could atleast receive calls and texts (having no idea who they are from) until I can get home to synch it up with yesterday's backup. So if you are planning on using this then do so when you are near a computer that you can restore and synch your data back up with, as I would have hated to of done this just before going out somewhere and have it crash into recovery mode!

I did the jailbreak this way and fiddled around with some of the apps. It seems some of them don't work for me though. Widgets wouldnt install giving me a script error, but it still put an icon on my homescreen. Installer doesn't see it as being installed so now I have no way to get rid of the widgets icon...anyone know how?? Also todolist installed, but everytime I open it, it just crashes and brings me back to the home screen. A few others were like this. I'm just wondering if those apps that didn't work were meant for 1.0.2 only or not...I'd hate to have to restore if I want to get rid of the widgets icon, damn!

Anyone else having trouble getting apps to run after jailbreaking through AppSnap? I did that this morning, and the only things I seem to get running are Installer and Summerboard. All other apps I've installed seem to crash out immediately. I've tried deleting and reinstalling numerous times, so I don't think it's simply a bad install.

Has anyone who's installed it tried reverting back to 1.1.1? Does it restore just fine? I just don't want to be left with a bricked iPhone....:(

I did this and had no problems. I was experiencing a LOT of freezing and many of the apps don't work well on 1.1.1 so I restored and it's back to where it was this morning, no problem.

I tried the beta of Summerboard a week or two ago, and it was terribly instable. This may be causing your problems. I have AppTapp on my phone now, and it's been stable so far, although, I haven't run too many tests.

Thanks, tobefirst. I'll try uninstalling Summerboard and see if that solves the problem. I'll report back.

EDIT:
Looks like that was exactly the problem. Apps seem to run fine now without Summerboard. Too bad, really, because I love the themed look.

By the way, how do you rearrange the icon order? I haven't seen that yet.

How about already unlocked iPhones?

Okay, so if I have a 1.1.1 unlocked phone (bought as a virgin 1.1.1 too) already jailbroken and activated, will this mess anything up? Is this currently the only (easy) way for me to get AppTap 3.0 on my phone?
Thanks
