The alias would be made of your external drive Movies folder, and be placed in your Mac's Movies folder.

I use Rivet myself. It allows you to add multiple folders. I have my Mac's movies folder as well as my external movies folder. I think Rivet also allows better organization of how the lists are displayed. (subfolders on the xbox). For me, Rivet also streams to my PS3 so it serves a dual purpose for me.

I'd recommend looking into Rivet, though from my experience both are good programs.

I also use Rivet and it works great on the 360. Rivet just streams the media. Some people say you can embed the artwork in the video file and the 360 will decode it. I myself could not get this to work.

Purchased iTunes movies and songs

Is anyone else having an issue with using Connect360 and playing purchased movies or songs from iTunes? I have been reading reports that go both ways. When I attempt to play my movie it gives me the following message:

! Unplayable Content
Can't play this content because it may not be supported. For more info, go to www.xbox.com/support.

Status code: 69-C00D11E7

My purchased songs don't even show up.

I have also done all the updates that I am aware of.

I can't play anything PROTECTED, but purchased items do work for me. At least purchased music. I have never purchased a movie over iTunes, but I do rip all my own DVD's. Some work, some don't, I'm not sure why.

I haven't been able to make any of it work for awhile.

Save yourself some money and just use Vuze (previoulsy Azureus). It's free and does everything the pay programs do. I've never tried album art or dvd art flow - but all music and video stream with no problem at all.

About two months ago, I tried Connect360 and Rivet. They both seemed to work fine, but they dumped videos into one big list, which made it impossible to watch, say, a couple of successive TV shows from the same series.

It was actually by luck I came across Playback; it happened to be on MacUpdate Promo the same day I tried out the other two. I had never heard of it. But, it blew the others away, because it keeps your folder structures intact on the XBox!

Playback will pulls videos directly from iTunes, but I chose to create a folder within my Movies folder, and put aliases to the iTunes video folders I wanted in there. It gives me a little flexibility, in that I can simply drag a file into the folder and watch it on my XBox, without having to add it to iTunes first. It's been an awesome solution for my roommate and I.

New version of Rivet is now sending media thumbnails to the xbox 360, that's kind of nice.

My xbox 360 can't seem to see vuze anymore, I wonder what broke? Used to work great.
