For about a year I had both a 12.9 IPP and an 11" IPP. The 12.9 stayed on my desk as a 2nd laptop and very rarely did I ever take it anywhere. I sold it and bought a 13" M1 MBP. The 11" is still my main take it with me device if I am going out for coffee, etc.
Cheaper to buy a coffee machine and stay home if your gonna sit in a coffee shop and stare at a screen

Thanks everyone, I am so on the fence on this. Mainly I was thinking about the Mini for when laying in bed and just browsing, vs having to hold a massive 12.9 Inch iPad and the heavy weight that goes with it. So I am torn on if its worth the $500 for it. :)

That's the primary use mine gets around the house - in bed in lieu of my 2021 12.9. Otherwise, I mainly use it on the go.

This is really subjective.

For me, that’s something I do for hours on end (marathon reading sessions) so it’s worth getting a lighter, comfier iPad.

I would be using the iPad for at least an average of 4 hours every day for ~3 years.

$500 / (4 hours * 365 days * 3 years) = 11.4 cents/hour or ~$14/month

That’s just like one lunch out for a single person.

Amortization adds perspective. My wife was concerned over an extra $600 for a particular new mattress. I pointed out that it worked out to just over a dollar a week for a 10-year lifespan - was the additional comfort worth that? We got the more expensive mattress and there have been zero regrets :).

I think the mini and the 12.9 are a great combo. If I had a 12.9 inch iPad Pro I’d definitely get the mini. I have an 11 inch pro and mini 6. I’m thinking of trying the 12.9. I’ve always been against the larger iPad but now I’ve had echo show 15 for a few months and I’ve been thinking that it would be interesting to have a larger iPad.

When I had the mini I still preferred my 13 max for that, and the 12.9" is much better on the lap/couch with a folio case.

I had the 2018 11" for 2 years and the 12.9" M1 since release, my wife has a 11", I prefer mine I like the square shape and bigger video size. She doesn't watch video though mainly browsing and books.
