I have used them since release. I find the sound is incredible, especially with Spatial Audio (and in IOS 15 you can make any music that way... with mixed results). The base response is wonderful and the sound is just top notch. And the build had stayed solid, with no issues though I do care for them.

As for the negatives?

  1. The case sucks. Luckily it doesn't seem to matter much for battery anymore. I got a travel case.
  2. You have to size it right so the cups clamp without hurting your head. I am bald so sometimes I feel it. Not too bad though; I can sit for hours without a major issue.
  3. My huge complaint is they are buggy as heck. I have to reset them at least once every couple of weeks. Granted I am on iOS 15 but it also happens with my Macs.
    1. Sometimes they won't pair.
    2. Sometimes they won't register button clicks on the phone (like transparency mode), without a tone, even though it is working.
    3. Sometimes spatial audio stops working.
    4. Sometimes they have dropout issues.
I have never in history had to hard reset my Bose QC35s once. In years. It has gotten better with subsequent FW updates but they still have work to do.

Other than that? I love them.

Why do you feel the need to replace the cushions? The become gross?
I’m a good sweater too, unfortunately ? but I try to use the APP in the summer. But the APM’s are so nice.
Ive been thinking to clean them like a sponge: rinse with lots of water squeeze them and then let them dry in a sunny windowsill for a day or more if needed. If it fails ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I needed to replace them anyway.
If it works once, it might work several times and save me 70 bucks each time.
Apple has solid cleaning instructions out for them.
But there are also $35 3rd party alternatives out now.

Interesting thread, thank you for this. I just bought a pair to use for work. This is a good list of things to be aware of.
