A Blackberry Messenger equivilent client for the iPhone would seal the deal for me.

It would need to:

- Have an instant messaging feel and look, not a SMS style one like the iPhones.

check

- Have the delivery reports: BBM places a "D" next to a message when its delivered, and an "R" when the message hasnt been read.

coming soon.

- Status updates: like away msgs.

check

- Exclusive between users of this particular application

check. get it now from http://itunes.com/app/whatsapp

Dude, seriously. STOP advertising your app in EVERY thread. Starting to make you look like a tool.

i am not advertising. i am answering OPs original question. and judging by his response below, i did the right thing. if you don't like it when people answer threads on the forums, maybe forums are not your thing?

Im glad he did in at least this thread. I've just downloaded it and it's pretty good!!

thank you for the kind words:) if you have any questions, feedback or suggestions, we are always glad to hear them. group chat, file xfer and more cool stuff is coming soon btw!

Thus far how is this App doing? Are ppl happy with it? Does it give old BB users like me the feel of BBM again?

the idea is good, whatsapp looks nice, but do you guys really have a lot of iphone friends without text messaging? all of my iphone friends have text messaging. all i have to do is text them.

AIM is push now so it's basically texting. Most people I know are on it and it's sweet.

I can't speak for AIM, haven't used it in years, so someone can fill in the blanks. As far as friends having text messaging with your friends, this app has a invite feature that you send to your friends so they can install it.

For me has been great in this past 3 days, but to be honest, to really be a BBM-like application, then it MUST have MMS included. I won't complain about it for now, because it's free, but coming from Blackberry I really miss having the full SMS/MMS and other features that BBM gives to Blackberry users.

The app is called "i push it" not "i pu sh*t."

Hi jkb,

I'm really liking this app to communicate with my Wife's phone. The only thing I wish could be changed is the name of the app itself. To me, "whatsapp" does not describe this as a messaging app. A name more like "iMessenger/iMessage" would translate better as it would show that it's for messaging, and of course the "i" would indicate that this is for a apple/iphone-touch user base.

if name is the only thing you don't like about the app, that is a good thing:)

our name is suppose to be a pun on "What's Up", because that is what people usually say when they greet each other.

Right, I got that part. I guess my point was that it's very easy for people to be put off from trying the app because they dont know what the app does. After saying that, I hope this catches on and more people use it.

I did have one question, is it possible to have a message "pop up" even when the app is opened to a chat but the screen is off?
