I downloaded some apps from the app store on my iPhone. I want to take the apps from my iPhone and put them in the applications folder in iTunes on my computer, how do I do this?

I think he means when you download from the App Store on your iPhone, they don't show up in the Applications part of iTunes on your PC/Mac.

^ yes, that is what I meant, and syncing my phone is not putting them in my applications folder. Is there an option somewhere to do this?

Wait, it doesn't?

I could have sworn the apps I downloaded onto my phone were also in my iTunes apps folder after I synced. I'll have to wait until I go home to verify.

When you sync and it asks you if you want to transfer stuff, hit transfer.

Then it will copy Applications and songs that you've downloaded back to your iTunes library from your phone.

Now, if you've checked "Don't show this again" and hit "Don't transfer" then it sounds like you've ruined it for yourself. :D

yes, that's what I hit and I'm wondering how to undo it.

is there a preference file I can delete?

I never hit that... and it transfers my free apps, but not my paid apps. I should be able to sync Super Monkey Balls to my wife's iPhone right?

Wow, this was just answered already today in another thread:

When you sync normally it should ask you if you want to transfer the apps to iTunes (unless you checked the "Don't Ask Me This Again" the first time it showed up) otherwise, you can right click on your iPhone in the left column and choose "Transfer Apps" or "Transfer Purchases" (however it's worded; not in front of my main computer now.)

lost harddrive

Lost my job - and my laptop that has all my synced iPhone apps on it.

How do I get my paid (and unpaid) apps on the iPhone back into a new copy of iTunes without re-purchasing and losing all my settings?

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Finally, in a moment of desperation, I righted clicked on my iPhone and chose the option “Transfer Purchases” and to my suprise and glee I successfully moved my applications onto to my computer." Details follow. Fixed the issue.

You could always just redownload them for free. Just look up the app in iTunes, click "Buy" or whatever and it will tell you that you've already purchased it, do you want to download it again for free? Say yes, and there it is.

Isn't it as easy as selecting something like:

File > Transfer Purchases from iPhone

I don't have my iTunes PC handy or I would check. But I'm pretty sure that there is a specific menu item used for transferring Apps and Songs that you have purchased on the iPhone. Is that what you are trying to do?

Sure, I'm late to this, but will Apple EVER learn the meaning of the word sync? It sure as **** doesn't mean erase everything on one device and replace it with anothers!!

Right click on iPhone, 'Transfer Purchases from iPhone'.

No wonder I couldn't do it on the MacBook I bought just so I could update my iPhone. :( Good thing I keep one or two computers that I can dual boot to windows. Otherwise, I'm 100% linux.

Help

Not had a problem until this last week.

I have downloaded apps, both free & paid for, from both my iTUNES account on my laptop aswell as directly from my phone.

0The apps are listed & ticked in my iTunes account. However, they do not show on the iPhone. Aldo, they are listed in my Itunes account byt are faded out in grey, whereas all the other apps are listed page by page as they appear on the phone handset.

I have tried the transfer purchases etc....without success - any help would be greatly appreciated !

Syncing from Iphone to Itunes

1. To sync apps from Iphone to Itunes go to the file menu
2. Click on Transfer purchases from (your Iphone's name)
3. It will ask you to Authorise the new computer (you are aloud 5 different Authorisations so its a good idea to de-authorise the one you don't want anymore)
4. It will then sync them all over.

Hope this helps.:)

help

I've followed J.E.M.'s suggestion but the apps purchased from my iphone is still not showing up on the Apps tab of my iTunes. Trying to sync it shows the preview and I couldn't see any of my apps.

Hope somebody could help. Thanks!

Okay, I have a bigger problem:
I deleted once the synced apps from my "Mobile Applications" Folder on my MacBook, because I needed some space on my HDD.

When I now click on "Transfer purchased Items" in iTunes, it will only copy new Apps (which I updated recently on my iPod Touch), but not the old ones :(

It also don't work to re-download the apps for me, because for example "ZumoCast" doesn't exist any more in the App Store.

Any suggestions?
