i like the new approach but it feels so sluggish and slow on my ipad mini 2.. Same for when you pull the search bar. It was so snappy up until ios 8! I'm on ios 9.1 beta but I doubt it's any better on the current stable 9.0 that came out 2 days ago... Is it?!

I must be in the minority, but I really like the new look. It finally stops me from saying "it's just like WebOS."
It looks nicer, but it's less functional in various ways (as far as not seeing notification badges, as far as not seeing all the content on the preview, as far as it ending somewhat harder to stop quickly at some app in the middle of various apps, etc.).

It’s horrible. More complex than before and just not a clear. It serves no useful benefit overt the previous.

Try closing everything and re-booting your device…..boom they're back!

close them all, press the home button, wait 30 seconds. then reboot. Then they don't re-appear, YMMV

In addition to the lag, I hate how if I'm in a game I can't open it to just glance at the time and battery anymore.

You should be able to use Notification Center for that. But it is too bad they removed that for no reason really.

To free up the RAM.

I hope you brought a hard hat because there's going to some trouble coming your way for that one :)

As for the App Switcher, another non fan here. If they wanted to change it to this then at least the 'middle' app should be at the front of the stack somehow on top of all the other cards. Maybe a bit like this

Just submitted an "enhancement request" in 9.1 beta. Worth a shot I guess

I KNEW something was missing besides "favourites" but couldn't put my finger on it
Do you confirm you can't have old favorites in the new app switcher ? I'm missing it....

As well as being worse in usability terms, it also stutters incredibly frequently on my 6 Plus. Flicking to the end of the app cards then pressing the home button results in an awful animation which just goes to a blank screen before all icons just appear without animation. It's very poor.

It also drops many frames on my iPad Air making it a stuttery mess.

I obviously bought the wrong iOS devices. My friend's 5s and Air 2 seem to animate flawlessly.
I can't see any stuttering on my iPad Air....

I like it too, but I'm missing the favorites selection on top of the app switcher on my iPhone....

Yup, no favourites anymore in App Switcher. They seem to have been replaced by 'proactive' contacts on the swipe to the left Spotlight page. Now, I DO get stuttering on my iPad Air. Might try a full restore as new at some point and try it but I'm too lazy.

Yep, old discussion here...
A lot of users here say you don't need to close unused apps, but a lot are constantly whining about apps and pages reloads.
I'm closing unused apps since the beginning and I'm fine with 1 Gb models.
I don't care what they say, I'm going to close every unused app.

It kind of works for me (usability) on the 5s, but I played with 6plus and it felt like my iPad, uncomfortable. It's eh, nope, i can't quite explain it, I prefer the iOS8 method currently more.

Since I very rarely move from my first page, it's an easy swipe to the left (wow...that sounds like I'm about to start dancing the Time Warp!). I never remembered to go to the app switcher to find my favorites. Going left seems more intuitive...at least to those of us who used previous versions of iOS where spotlight was originally to the left.

It's just not as convenient if you're NOT a front page sticker and you have maybe 10-13 of the blighters. But we'll get used to it no doubt. Then they'll change it again

And you are aware iOS automatically handles this? If an app you're using need more RAM than is free iOS will close apps in the background. The only reason you ever need to force quit an app is if it locks up or have some other issue requiring a full restart.

I like how it's faster now to close out multiple apps and that they appear on the left; makes more sense this way. The biggest issue I have with it is that the right side of apps are covered by what's on top. D:<

I'm pretty much with most everyone here; I dislike the new app switcher. It's buggy for me when switching back to certain apps, I almost always end up opening an app I don't want because I'm trying to stop the carousel mad spinning And I can't see all the content.

Also, I loathe that the left spotlight page is back. I really wish they'd have that as an option I can turn off.

I'm really missing the app badge notification count in there, and I wish that the carousel would continue around when it reaches the end but they'll never happen I think. But as for the spotlight page home screen left I don't mind it since they at least kept the pull down option. If they'd taken that one away again too then I'd be more peeved. Well, I didn't mind it when there was some useful info there but the "nearby" info has disappeared recently (for me at least) for some reason, which was actually useful. More so than having some news articles in there at least.

Just put back badges so that it can clearly show me when I get a message when I app Switch and I will be a happy camper ! Having to actually dive into the app the check if I got a message is annoying ...

If you have the Messages app on your dock or at least home screen you should be able to see the badge on the home screen preview "card" at least. Not the same thing, but at least something that might be a bit better than switching to the app itself.
