Should have bought it when it was available. If more people did, Steve wouldn't have killed it. Now people are crying about its death. Forget about it and just buy a new one when you still can. Once stock runs out, you'll be sorry you didn't.

I did buy one. If they would have released them this past September like the 120GBs, I would have bought another 160GB. Instead, I bought a black 120GB.

Anybody think that it would be possible to swap a 120GB HDD from the XBOX 360 into the 80GB Classic? Or maybe the 20GB?

steve also said that they had to use 2 seperate hard drives to get that much space which made it waaay to thick so he got rid of it and made the 1 hard drive based 120 gb classic

Yep, double layer hard drive.
Although, another reason was because they weren't selling as much as the 80GB

I'm glad I grabbed a 160GB version when I did! Although it may be slightly thicker, the form factor is a fair trade-off for the increased capacity. At the moment mine is about 45% full, and I still have a sizable collection of CD's I need to get imported into iTunes.

i remeber seeing it at the apple store and being shocked at how big it was lol:D

Lets look at it objectively. The 160GB iPod is not anywhere near as big as, say, having to lug around stacks of CDs or worry about what is synced before you leave home. I have a 160GB Classic and will probably never have to worry about what is syncing - and it being in my car, the size is not even an issue.

They just flat out didn't sell.

That isn't possible. The HDD on the XBOX Elite is 120 and it is MUCH lighter than my iPod 80GB

I hope you know he was being sarcastic, implying that it's not possible.
And obviously your XBOX's HD is going to be lighter, you're just holding the hard drive, but not only holding your iPod's hard drive you're holding the whole thing.

Came out before the current iPod. Dual-platter. Unless they make it single, it won't show up in the HDD iPods, and in that case we'll have to wait for NAND to catch up.

IIRC, those drives were announced really close to the September event, which led to speculation that Apple decided to drop the double-platter model (ever since the 4G, Apple's had a single-platter and a double-platter model, which invalidates Tallest's argument).

I took apart my iPod and the hard drive all by itself weights about the same as the entire HDD assembly plastic and all on the XBOX.
