I find it a bit frustrating to go into any authorized dealer like Yodobashi, Yamada Denki, etc - and the Mac Mini isn’t available, the iMac isn’t available, the Mac Studio is t available. This is getting a bit ridiculous at this point. The other Dayi went to a nearby store and now the iPhone 17 full lineup is unavailable, as well.

2.5 month wait if I order any of these from the Apple Store in Japan. Meanwhile I see no such crisis for desktop PC’s.

And when things do finally get turned around, the reward for our patience and brand loyalty will be merely a barely noticeable spec bump at best along with a price increase.

Seriously, WTF? Just announce all desktop computers have been wiped from the lineup amd Apple is only doing portable devices now.

Why are you frustrated? Go to the used market if you need instance gratification. With AppleCare One, you can get your recently purchased used Mac mini M4 a warranty. Or not.

I hear you but seems like apple is moving away from desktops as traditional forms of computing. They discontinued the tower computer. BTW it used to be apple computer but its now just apple which signaled is moved away from computers to general tech company, and this was done under steve jobs.

I would think sales are way down and the mucky mucks in the company ain't happy.

WWDC is next week so I expect announcements and huge sales gain in the near future.

Try the Apple Store. Long wait time, but Mac Minis can be ordered in Australia.

Why the hell should I have to buy a used computer b/c Apple have no new ones? I’ not complaining about some new game changer that was officially released today and initial stock is gone.

I’m talking about walking into ANY Apple Store in Japan or any of the giant retailers like Yodobashi, Bic Camera, etc - and you 100% can not buy a desktop.

That is pathetic.

well, 90% of the Macs that are sold are MacBooks, so that should tell you where the inventory is prioritized.
Mac minis, iMacs, and Mac studios are a very small part of the pie and previously, the Mac Pro was an even smaller part of the pie.

As Steve Jobs once said, Apple is very much a mobile devices company.

There are memory shortages that are limiting the availability of certain models. If you are managing your demand correctly, you allocate scarce resources to your best selling and or highest margin sellers.

apple is moving away from desktops as traditional forms of computing.
People who buy computers are moving away from desktops, and Apple is following the money.

- work situations have become a lot more fluid with Zoom and hybrid workplaces
- laptops have gotten extremely capable, and (for Macs anyway) have incredible battery life
- between widespread wifi and fast 5G networks, it’s easier to stay connected than ever before

Obviously there are people who still need desktops, but it’s become a niche. And remember that Macs as a whole have become a much smaller part of Apple’s revenues: Macs accounted for 7.6% of their revenue this past quarter, and you can bet the vast majority of those were MacBooks. In other words, Apple probably makes more selling AirPods than all the desktop Macs put together.

My 12 nearest Apple stores are currently out of stock of the Mac Mini but all are showing availability in 24 days time. A week or so is acceptable, more than three weeks isn't.

It's because of Claude Bots/Agents increasing demand for desktops unlike what's been seen in years. The sales volume was really low, so an uptick of a 200,000 units can easily create a shortage.

I remember having nothing but desktops years ago fast forward to today all my friends and myself included moved to laptops ,pads and smart phones rarely do I no someone with a desktop.

When memory and components are scarce, Apple or any other company will prioritize on their bread winners. You either wait or buy windows or Linux desktops. Apple mac notebook revenue is close to 85-90% of total mac revenue as per many analysts. Of course they will use those on Laptops.

Wait till TSMC can’t deliver the Apple silicon in large numbers or chips gets constrained. Apple will prioritize iPhone A series over M series if it comes to it. Apple would happily sell everything they can but times like these, they will prioritize.
