When I like an IEM or truly wireless solution, I always buy two units. Example, Shure SE846, Sony WF-1000MX3, and Sony WF1000 before the current generation Sonys.

I only have one set of APP. Not good enough. Disappointing. But so much potential!

Hope the next generation solves all the many problems with SNC and SQ, because the utility and convenience is outstanding.
I am about to get the Sony WF-1000MX3, what is the better utility and convenience of the APP?

That’s interesting as a few people on here posted success in restoring ANC using rubbing alcohol
Sucking. Blowing. Rubbing alcohol.

Are people doing all these things to fix their AirPods Pro? Or just to get their kink on? ?

Seriously, it's ridiculous that we have to jump through all of these bizarre hoops just to get our $250 earphones to work properly.

It is unbelievable how apple is getting away with this until today... I believe all the random people (majority of all owners) simply don’t recognize stuff like this. I don’t know why tbh. It’s a beta test in public and we carry the costs! I’m on my second pair now, and after painstakingly keeping my ears and APPs surgically clear they failed today on both ears. There is a slight broom wind like sound when on ANC and i can clearly hear huge amount of bone conduct sounds when walk or run. These are clear indicatiors of them failing! It’s definitely due to the clogged inner vents... This is an heavyweight hardware design FAILURE. So i will exchange the f... out of this banana product with my apple care until they fix the Hardware or give my my hard earned 320€ back.

Worth noting with this line of though that APP owners with Apple Care+ are now receiving replacement tips at no cost.

Seems fairly obvious now there is some type of compositional issue with the silicon. I see the connector is slightly out of round, Im curious if this creates some issue as the tip is compressed in the ear for a week or two? I'm not an engineer but there is definitely a sealing issue at the foundation of all of theses complaints with ANC.

I'm still of the opinion the screen over the inner microphone needs a redesign. :apple:
The connector is supposed to be "out of round". It's an oval not a circle. Look at a new pair.

Tell me exactly how ANC is supposed to block sound conducted through your body rather from outside your ears? It needs to sample the sound coming into your ears to generate a contra-signal to negate it. Sound coming via your bones by definition can’t be sampled and thus cannot be negated.

These things are good, but they are not magical. Just go get your money back, as you’re never going to be satisfied with these.

The point is that we were satisfied with them. But then Apple changed the firmware, and that made them less than satisfactory. And because the firmware was changed after the 14-day return window had expired, we can't get our money back.

In my opinion this is a case of great hardware crippled by garbage software. I know these are complicated devices but almost 2 months and still no firmware update. My hopes for an ANC fix are fading.

I’m not referring to the apparent loss of NC “intensity” that may have been caused by the most recent (and now apparently pulled) firmware update. My point to the poster I was referring to was about unreasonable expectations in the first place. I’m no expert, but thinking that ANC will eliminate sounds transmitted through the solid/liquid mass that is the human body is not reasonable. And it that is the expectation, it will never be met.

Well I am on day 8 of my Pro’s. Previous sets developed issues after 5 or 6 days but these are fine. The difference between these and my previous sets is night and day.
I may be tempting fate but I get a perfect seal every time and the bass and lows are better. Yes with 2B588, the ANC still leaves a lot to be desired but there is a huge difference with this set between ANC and transparency mode.
i can’t put my finger on it but they definitely seem better built all round with even battery usage and zero connectivity or charging issues. Microphone works well too. People can actually hear me now. These are a January build and I swear Apple has tweaked something. There were rumours that Apple had some QC issues and stopped production to address those problems.
if they improve the NC with a firmware update, these would be perfect.
Are your model number A2084 ? And hardware version 1.0.0 ?

The fit test fails now on the new pair I just got from the Apple Store last week (unless I push on them during the test, just like the previous pair I had). I keep them in my ears about 8 hours a day, so they have had fairly heavy use. But I'm not taking them back again unless they stop working, because they still otherwise sound fine (just like the previous pair, until I started blowing/sucking on them just to see if I could get the test to pass). But it's still pretty absurd

Okay i wasn’t sure where to post this i just joined moments ago to share this. I was disappointed with the sound quality of my airpods. And was eager to upgrade. I bought these clear slip on with ear hooks to hold inside your ear but they also seal your ear and when that’s paired with this app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/boom-music-player-equalizer/id1065511007. And use tidal music app or other high quality encoded music files. The sound quality and volume is sooo much better. I mean miles better. I was actually blown away. By the sound with such a simple addition. The tips I added are not the ones that have the in ear tip that make them look more like pro https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-accessories-for-apple-airpods-white/5823032.p?skuId=5823032. I had to share this for those disappointed with the sound but love them otherwise.

Im aware of that ?. Was simply opining as to if it may be a design issue or the composition of the silicone in the tip that are causing the issues with many users. Keep up the good work. ?

Yes it is so no model change but I am still convinced that Apple has tweaked the hardware or addressed a quality control issue
I seriously doubt they tweaked anything in terms of design.
It costs a lot to change a production line.

They might have replaced raw components - for example the glue or the way they seal the speakers and that could have some impact. Could be anything of this manner...

Either way I am glad it works for you!

Yes that’s what I mean. A design change would mean a new model number. I think they may have improved the build quality

Who knows. I had a late dec19 unit, with 2b588. Well built, I like them.

the battery consumption is even, the sound is good, the anc pretty strong but definitely not crazy as I read it was for the first version.

The fit test is ok, the mic are ok, never failed a call even if the voice is pretty muffled (I think it’s ok for the in ear headphones).

i do not return, tomorrow is my last day.

I just complaints many bugs related to the connectivity: sometimes on bud does not respond, sometimes it doesn’t change mode, and many other minor bugs that disappear onvmce i put them in the case and connect again.

I’m losing my loosing my hopes for an incoming update, we probably see something in months, that will address the bugs I mentioned before.

ANC will stay the same IMHO.

You are basing all of your claims that the ANC is not as good as it was on release day on what you *read * about the early days?

That’s called hearsay. And there’s a reason courts don’t usually allow it as evidence in a trial: it’s unreliable.

Has anyone here installed the iOS 13.4 beta and discover any ANC sliders or other promising new features that might suggest a fix is in the works?

Apple doesn’t care anymore. They sold it to you, you paid, they cashed in. No need to worry about it.
I am sick of them.
Every update breaks something and it doesn’t get fixed ever again.
They advertise features that don’t work. See continuity and handoff on Mac for example. Try to switch to another user account and handoff will stop working until you reboot. I reported the bug 21 times. ZERO.
My airpods are playing up 40% of the times, microphone not activating or one AirPod not turning on. Brand new airpods Pro, second pair. Other brands are catching up at incredible speed. Time to expand our horizons.
The last software update cycle for iOS and Apple TV broke my home setup, Siri won’t control my devices anymore. Had to reset everything and start from scratch.
I’m so fed up.
For the first time in my life I told a friend NOT to buy the iPhone 11 Pro because the software that comes with it is bugged AF.
