I had a Paramount+ trial via Apple In App Purchase well over 2 years ago and my subscription still works today, even though I have cancelled it 2 years ago. Apple does not list an active subscription, yet Paramount+ claims I am subscribed, even with the Showtime add on via Apple lol

It almost seems like they keep the profile active intentionally to maintain a healthy "growth" to their shareholders even if no one is paying for it lol
 
I wonder what the combined price will be? I figure together they are worth about $5.99 a month. Thats 99 cents for the Apple portion and $5 for Paramount.
 
They've already done this with Paramount+ and Showtime before. Well, kind of. I got both of those channels on Apple TV bundled together and discounted if I was an Apple TV+ subscriber. I bot both for $10 a month.

I see you've done the honorable thing and just continued to get Paramount+ for free, instead of calling them and making sure it was truly cancelled! 😂 I'm just messing with you! I signed up for what was originally called DirecTV Now (currently it is DirecTV Stream) when they first started and got the Go Big plan with 105+ HD channels, including local channels, 3 simultaneous streams with 20 hours of free DVR for $39.99 a month. Fast forward to today and I still pay $39.99 for the Go Big package when the equivalent to my Go Big package now runs $129.99 a month. I've got the best deal in cable/streaming, period. Nothing else even comes close!

First fire all the developers of the Paramount + app. I signed up for a free trial years ago, yet I see have free access. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
 
It would be huge win for Paramount, their TV app is just awful. Not sure if even Apple could fix it.
 
Apple should’ve acquired Paramount when it had the chance. Star Trek, South Park, Transformers, Hunger Games, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Mission Impossible franchises would be the kind of mainstream cult favourites that’d throw AppleTV+ to the top tier.

I guess a partnership could be a testing bed that ultimately leads to a merger of the services.

What I want is an annual subscription option without ads, and not monthly.

I use my Paramount+ subscription more than any other service (including Apple TV)

An annual option for this rumored bundle? Because there already is an annual paramount+ ad-free plan.
 
To me, this is nothing more that consumer subscription burnout. It was bound to happen and my guess is, we might see more of these in the future. Also people are having to deal with inflation and higher costs for pretty much everything, so the first things to go are luxury things, people can do without.
It’s really insane. I’m sure most people don’t use a single specific subscription service every month out of the year.

Now, we have all of the following to consider:
  • Ads or no ads
  • HD or 4K (or sometimes SD)
  • Other misc tiered features (local downloads)
  • Monthly or yearly
  • Am I even watching anything on here? Is anybody else using the account?
  • Is the service free or discounted through my phone carrier? For how long? Do I need the cheapest tier or can I pay the difference to get no ads?
  • NEW: Can I get this service bundled with a different service I have?
… for each service.

Surely this won’t push people towards piracy.

Man, someone should combine all of these services into one package. Like all of ESPN, Disney, Apple, Paramount, Netflix, Hulu - just all of the channels, er, apps into one package.

We’ll call it ”cable” and it’ll be a hit.

Anytime there is an article about streaming services' price increases, there are always comments saying how it is getting back to how it was with cable, or people should just use cable, but I never understood these type of comments.

The amount of content that one gets with just one ad-free streaming service is way more than cable services ever offered, and for a fraction of the price.

More on price, when considering the rental prices of the set top boxes that are required for most streaming companies to get their full service, one box alone cost as much as most streaming services. If you have a medium sized family with multiple TVs, the rental prices of the set top boxes could cost as much as all the major streaming subscriptions together.

Mix all that with the ability to easily cancel a streaming service in seconds, something that cannot be done with Cable, even with the rising costs of the streaming services, the value is still much higher than cable, imo.

Groceries is not a luxury thing or thing people can do without


Even as Americans cut back in the face of rising prices and recessionary fears, fewer want to give up their streaming subscriptions, especially when it comes to TV, movies and music services, such as Amazon Prime, Netflix and Spotify.

Roughly two-thirds of consumers said they will have to decrease their spending due to inflation; however, only about a quarter plan to cancel such subscriptions in the months ahead, according to a recent report by the National Research Group.

Most people said they were more likely to cut back on dining out, groceries and clothing.

Pretty much all my streaming subscriptions are on a month to month basis. I keep around Amazon Prime and a grandfathered Hulu+Spotify bundle that is the same cost as Spotify alone. All the others (ATV+, D+, MAX, Netflix, P+) I sign up for a month, immediately cancel, and then I have a month to watch whatever I want on it. Of all the other streaming options, I usually only have 1-2 active per month.
 
That's weird. I've been using Paramount+ ad-free for about 6 months and have never seen an ad (other than product placements in shows, of course) on any device I've tried -- iPhone, iPad, in a browser, an Apple TV, and a TV with Roku.

I see them constantly when I start watching an episode of their Star Trek shows. It wouldn't be a big deal if they offered a standard "skip" button. For some reason they think forcing you to watch the same thirty 30 promo for a show you may have already watched will endear you to it.

 
Any savings are welcome for me. The price of subscription services is getting so expensive. I will never go back to a cable subscription but the prices have been creeping up.
 
I'm interested in this part. Reed Hastings famously implied Netflix could charge its customers any amount and they'd pay it. With the recent price hikes, I haven't seen any data demonstrating consumer reaction (if any) in the form of cancellations.
I cancelled Netflix. The price increase and not being able to share it with family on top of it being the least used service for us (We subscribe to ESPN/Disney/Hulu Ad Free Bundle, Apple One, Prime, Paramount+ for Serie A and Champions League as well as DirectTV stream where we get Max bundled (I am a big sports fan). Will restore it once every 10 months to maintain my account settings, as well as the few comedy standups that end up being funny.

FYI: The money Apple spends on developing content for Apple TV+ doesn't take away from the money that's available to spend on other areas of their business. Apple generates enough free cash flow to cover any R&D spending.

Bingo.

Having a tier of paid subscriptions that show commercials was something that might've given them short term gains, but in the end would boomerang and cost them more. Eventually people will conclude, "why should I pay to watch programming with commercials when there are free options that do the same thing?"

That's where... in an everything-old-is-new-again fashion, FAST (Free ad-supported streaming television) is growing in popularity. Tubi, Pluto TV, and Plex (streaming portion) have been really upping their game this year.

I love the content that Apple TV+ gets. It’s very well manicured and deep. I would love to see more random stuff too. I think a partnership with paramount would be great.
