i personally dont expect from any tft or lcd screen to last longer then a year anyway as a lot of them come already with dead pixels from the factory
or dimmed backlids which are ,as some manufacturers point out
not avoidable and up to a certain percentage acceptable

that was one of the reasons i bought a emac now as i was fed up with
lcd screens /tft`s with dimmed backlids and dead pixels
the technic of the crt screens is far more developed as already
over 100 years old
someone might convince me to buy again a lcd/tft in about 80 years time
but until then i will use crt screens ;)

I've had a total of 11 LCD screens, oldest one from 1990 (Backlit Portable), and I've had a total of two dead pixels :)

The backlights have indeed faded out, but my old CRTs aren't much to look at either. I just thought the LED was a bit more robust, could be that I got a better screen tho.

i had some bad ones ,
but since having a crt again in my emac i simply cant understand why i ever bought tft/lcd`s ,
a crt has far better colours , its like looking out of a clean window :D, rather then looking on a screen ;)

even one dead pixel is annoying if you have to look at it all the time , i cant ignore it

Really glad you were able to get this sorted free of charge. You are absolutely right to expect the thing to last more than it did.

A good result for the consumer, hurrah!

Great news!
Not even the labour charge?

Not even the labour charge :)

I would recommend not giving up as I did have to call a couple of times before I was put forward to second line support. The actual regent street store seemed pretty much a waste of time since they had never heard of the Sale of Goods Act, but customer support over the phone knew about it.
