Expectations: AR/VR Headset, Apple Car, Mac Pro with M51 Super Ultra Extreme Mega SoC, 50" Apple 15K display, 10" iPhone Ultra Max Extreme Pro.

Real world: Apple talks about how many people use Apple devices, how many apps have been downloaded and MacOS 14 will be called Easter Island.

I just saved you 90 minutes. You're welcome.

Firefox would be fantastic. If they allow sidloading, they should allow developers to block customers from loading their apps on a device that has sideloading turned on. Beyond that, it should automatically erase any apps that have that flag set, BEFORE sideloading is activated.
So you believe that current Apple sandbox security is fundamentally and totally broken. Good to know you're still a fan even with security so bad.

If they thought the headset was a game changer, they wouldn't pre-record the keynote. It would be live so it could be simulcast on the news networks (especially CNBC, Bloomberg, etc.).

Covid is over. There are no mask mandates in Santa Clara County (where Apple is located). I want to see these meetings held like they were done Pre-Covid. I don't like all the video productions and special affects done in the video. I prefer to see live demos and see if the software is going to crash, and does what it is supposed to do. I quickly loose interest will these videos and their special affects between transitions of the products. Also, want to see the Apple Shareholder meeting to be held back in person again.

“Swiftly developing.” sounds promising, many old Objective-C frameworks needs to be rewrited to Swift. Also Xcode needs a cleanup “version” focus on Swift.

Yes I want live events too. Is a bad decision if Apple showcase a new product category in a recorded video.

It won’t be the biggest most exciting, it’s all because of the headset but iOS 17 isn’t gonna be that big at all and that’s not exciting lol
The expected products should be pretty exciting (except for the VR thing) but the presentation will most likely be a snooze fest (unless they make sure nobody but Craig presents.) That's my prediction.

All sandbox security is broken. There is always a way out of it. The way out of the sandbox may not have been discovered yet, or it may have been discovered quite some time ago and not published.

😂😂 That's a good one. They should allow developers to disable your alarm clock too. Hell, maybe they should even allow them to disable your television if you do not subscribe to the Apple TV.

Some people just like to live in a cage full of restrictions - just so they don't harm themselves I guess.
Any software that runs on a system with untested software is compromised. If you are just running a game or something, that is no big deal. If you are running software that has a security component, it is a big deal. In a corporate environment, you go a step father and only allow software from a very small list. Better yet, you don't allow the user to install their own software at all. IT automatically uploads and updates the software that runs on your device. Each update to an app is examined before it is sent out to users. People can run whatever software they want on their own devices, but they can't touch the company network and quite often, they can't bring their own devices into the building.

Going back to home users, software from third party stores tends to be unreliable at best or trash at worst. If their software is compromising the OS, it will likely make your software look bad. Why deal with bugs that are brought into the system by "Developers" that can't even follow the platform's guidelines?
