There are still a fair number of Mac apps that have yet to be updated with Liquid Glass, despite Tahoe being announced almost 6 months ago. Would be interested to hear thoughts on why this may be, and what we can expect from any updates. Apps that I don't believe have been updated include:

Pages
Numbers
Keynote
Logic Pro
GarageBand
Final Cut
iMovie
Mainstage

what is it you'd expect to see? those apps all look like they usually look, they don't significantly change to 'match' the current OS (i use logic, final cut, pages, numbers...). just not sure what would change...

SwiftUI apps compiled on Tahoe with any target above macOS 14 automatically get LG elements. The only way to avoid it is compile on a system lower than Tahoe with a lower OS target.

I’m not surprised Pages and Numbers haven’t been updated. Apple is going to have to do something about color wells because the rectangular color picker is replaced with a circular one in Tahoe and it sucks badly.

Liquid Glass integration, as per the system apps.

Usually? You must be referring to the Sequoia GUI.

That's exactly my point: they haven't been updated to match the Liquid Glass interface as per the system apps.

Well that makes rolling back macOS Tahoe liquid Glass less of a bummer. It's a win-win in this respect.

I see this thread is on the macOS Tahoe sub-forum. Can I open it on the iOS 26 one? Because these apps on iOS aren’t adapted to Liquid Glass either.

Inconsistencies, Apple. Inconsistencies…

logic & FCP (and pages & numbers, for that matter) don't seem to change much visually over system upgrades, as much as we see changes when the apps themselves update. personally, i doubt they'll look much different in 2026, but we should see new features & fixes. anyway, am not worried about it 🤷

Logic & Final Cut & other pro apps uses their own customized UI framework, so Liquid Glass won't make any difference.

The iWork delay is weird. Maybe they are waiting until more UI bugs are fixed.

Would be nice not to have different sized windows and window elements on one OS. Every time I start a non-updated app I get Mac OS Classic vibes. It just looks weird to have macOS Tahoe and macOS Sequoia styled windows within the same OS. Especially because the macOS Tahoe ones have like 25% UI bigger elements.

iWork is most strange because Apple has had updates for them for what seems like months now, new icons were in promo material
OK, conspiracy time, but what if Alan Dye leaving Apple has also made the C-suite realise how utterly trash Liquid Glass is? And the work to update Apple's apps to Liquid Glass has been dropped, so that they'll simply pick-up on whatever UI/UX update arrives with the 2027 releases of the OSes? (Which will presumably be a significant "refining" of Liquid Glass, or certainly rowing back certain "design elements".)

Why?

It just uses system libraries, which can be updated for m5 independently of the app itself.
Ask Apple.
"• Export HEVC and H.264 files faster by simultaneously processing video segments across available media engines (requires macOS Sonoma or later and a Mac with Apple M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2 Max, M2 Ultra, or M3 Max). 10.4 2023-11-30"

Apple is worth four trillion dollars, their entire philosophy that they have bet the next decade of their user interface on both wasn’t decided on by one guy, and certainly won’t be abandoned because said one guy jumped ship.
There will definitely be refinements, but anyone expecting them to completely abandon liquid Glass I’m afraid is going to end up having a rude awakening come OS ‘27.
The last time Apple’s head of UI was replaced was 2015. The OS released in 2016 looked almost identical to the ones released in 2015, 2014 and 2013.
If you’re looking for the next UI after liquid Glass, come back in the mid 2030s, maybe even the early 2040s. Aqua in one form or another was around for 13 years and the flat design was around for 12, obviously with variations, improvements, and optimizations along the way.

There’s no M5 Max or Ultra yet. And when it comes to the M4 series it seems like they simply haven’t updated the page.
