Haven’t seen many posts on Apple Arcade. Does anyone know any meaty games like rpgs coming out for it at launch? The demos they showed at the keynote were like for casual gamers. Frogger. Indeed.
I think there's some uncertainty among user as to where to put posts about Arcade.

Do you know what the requirement for the size of the game is? Modern console games can be ~50GB. Switch games are only up to ~15GB with their lower resolution.
Currently it is 4GB, but I don’t personally think that is the be all / end all of games metrics. Civ 6 is around 3.75GB. My current favourite twitch game Dead Cells is only 675MB.

I'd like Apple to tell developers they can have larger file sizes on the condition they support native 4k graphics.

Oceanhorn 2 looks to be a launch game. If you like Zelda that should be pretty good; the first game was a lot of fun.

If they get Apple Arcade right it could blow the Nintendo Switch out of the water. That’s a pretty big if, but with games like Dead Cells now coming out in iOS and with better controller support I think the sky is the limit.

I wouldn’t say it’ll blow Nintendo out of the water.. But at least for me - I was coming close to buying the Switch. But with controller support, the new Arcade coming, and the ability to play on any of my devices (and any of my TVs because they all have Apple TV), I’m no longer interested in the Switch and ready for the Arcade. Hope they impress us with the catalog of games.

One thing I was glad to see is that “Arcade Exclusive” doesn’t restrict developers from releasing games on consoles too. Just can’t be on Android (mobile). So that opens things up a bit.

I guess it‘s simply two words: Nintendo exclusives. They are arguably among the best video games available which is why nothing will just kill the Switch. If it were only about raw power, PS4 and Xbox would have killed the Switch by now as well.

Nintendo first-party games is one thing I’ll miss.

With the new Switch Lite, that’s a pretty economical way to get your Nintendo fix if one is so inclined.

If you can afford Apple hardware you can afford a Switch. Just get one, you won't regret it.

Ya I have a switch and am loving the premium games on Apple Arcade. Hopefully this freemium **** will die off and we can have some good solid games.

Some good points here. Just getting a selection with games without in-app purchases is almost in itself worth the price. So sick of endlessly searching for a good game, and when I finally find something promising it turns out to be infested with iap.

Clearly a big part of Apple Arcade is going to be family-focussed. Knowing that you can subscribe then all your kids have access to games with no additional costs is going to be a powerful selling point.

It’s the perspective shift and install-base which Apple Arcade heralds that could really change iOS gaming over a few short years.

Must say that playing Oceanhorn 2 on my iPad with a PS4 controller feels more like real gaming and less like mobile gaming. Most mobile games are good for when you're having a dump, I find myself playing Oceanhorn 2 instead of playing on my PS4, so I guess that's a good thing.

I’m waiting for iPadOS before jumping in to Arcade, but Dead Cells (not on Arcade) is similarly a tier-1 game in terms of desire-to-play.

We are on the cusp of iOS becoming a credible gaming platform as long as Apple don’t drop the ball...

Is anyone else disappointed in the games lack of landscape support? Not just for Apple Arcade but there are way too many good looking games that lack landscape which makes me not want to play them.

I was really looking forward to Grindstone :(

Grindstone is great fun! Don’t let the vertical orientation put you off! I’ve also been really enjoying Cards of Darkness on my iPhone.

On the iPad I have been playing Spaceland and Overland, too. So far, I’m thinking Apple Arcade well worth £5 per month.

I subscribed to Apple Arcade and I tried 19 of the available games. None of them has caught or kept my attention. The ones that I tried I can describe as being OK at best. I am not sure I will keep my subscription.

As much as I hate the freemium model, I acknowledge that many of these pay-to-win games are very addictive (which seems to be a requirement to compel users to spend money to keep playing). I just wish that at least some of Apple Arcade offerings were half as addictive as those evil freemium games.

Can wholeheartedly recommend Assemble With Care, What The Golf, Pinball Wizard, Where Cards Fall, Cat Quest II, Tint, Sayonara Wild Hearts and Oceanhorn 2. Which ones did you try?

I cancelled the free trial as I don’t think I’ll use it enough. But I wish the apps had some indicator that they were arcade-only apps. After a while you might forget which ones you downloaded from arcade.

Well since all the Arcade apps seem to have an Apple Arcade splash screen before the game actually starts I would think it is pretty obvious which are Arcade and which were purchased elsewhere.
