If the phone is under warranty, why not go to a local Apple store and get it replaced? If you have one in driving distance, it would be much quicker than this alleged drama.

What you stated, doesn't sound like Apple at all, unless the person you were speaking with lost patience with you.

You are lucky Apple hasn't black-balled you from returns. I would have long ago.

Better try an android. I suggest the oneplus 6. Only issue is their customer service is very hit or miss, so you’ll probably hate it.
 
If it is back ordered there is little you can do. I suspect your phone that is to be replaced works just fine in the mean time.

It's probably on "backorder" just for you. And they have your account noted to pass along such info.
