I could have picked up the iPhone on November 3rd, but yesterday I've seen that Apple cancelled my order. I immediately called the support, but they couldn't help except saying that something went wrong with the PayPal payment.
Yesterday evening I got a mail from Apple: "We were unable to obtain authorization from your PayPal account. We have canceled your order."
I've seen that I'm not the only one with that problem..
I'm absolutely angry.
Do you thing there's a chance to go directly to an apple retail store, telling them about my situation and asking them if I could get a reservation for Nov. 3rd. Or is that hopeless?
Apple ****ed this **** up honestly..

it's just a phone, relax, doubt they will be able to do anything at the store, tried paying with something other than paypal?
We tried to change the payment methode from paypal to a different one, but my order is still cancelled so it didn't helped. Of course it's only a phone, but why should I wait six more weeks for the iPhone when it's clearly Apple's fault. The person I talked with from Apple didnt sound suprised at all that it didn't worked with PayPal.

It's really not their fault.

If you had gotten your financial house in order this wouldn't have happened.

You are going to have to wait as Apple is hearing every sob story known to man. Things like this happened to other people, too, so you are not alone.

I DON'T buy anything with PayPal if it's something important that I want. I've seen other problems with paying with PayPal for NON eBay stuff. And I don't see any advantage using PayPal because they either grab the money directly from your checking account immediately (BAD) or transfer the charge to a credit card. If it's the latter, why not go directly with the credit card in the first place.

On order night (Oct 27th), I had a credit card refused after entering the data twice. I switched to another card and it went through immediately. I called the bank that refused the payment and they said it shouldn't have happened. Apple glitch on preorder night???

What? you think they just have magic stock that isn't already reserved to someone else? LMAO

Folks complain because their credit card company turned down or refused to verify the charge. However, having been fleeced several times both on our personal cards and business cards by thieves, I'm glad my credit card company scrutinizes my charges closely. Better safe than sorry.
Many people, including myself, had to call Apple Friday morning because 'payment failed.' Chase told me they authorized the charge.

The Apple support rep ran the same card and it worked.

I'm surprised they canceled without offering you to enter a new method of payment? Normally if a card is declined, they'll send a warning email to update MOP first.

Unless some type of fraud alert was on PayPal account.

They could take stock from launch day sales and put one on reserve for him. Remember last year when Apple screwed up the order process for IUP users. Apple allowed IUP users to switch to in-store pickup for launch day and took stock that was supposed to be for launch day sales and turned it into pre-order reserves. I'm not saying that this would happen again, but its not unheard of.

You not being able to pay Apple for the phone is not their fault. Your recourse is to place a new order and actually pay for it this time.

I don’t think you’ll get any special consideration if you go to an Apple Store on the 3rd, but if you are that determined to get a phone, then get there as early as possible and take your chance with the others waiting in line for launch day inventory. And definitely bring a form of payment other than PayPal. I do think it was unfortunate they did not give you a chance to change your payment method before canceling your order.

How so? Why would they cancel an order because of a single payment issue without contacting him?
My Apple Pay failed, along with seemingly everyone else in the UK who used it to preorder for store pickup, and I got a very similar email but asking me to change/update payment method. If they had just cancelled the order I would be livid.

Maybe you are new to this or something.
