Having received my MS M1 Max just a few weeks ago I was wondering if I should get AC+. In the end, I ordered it "one year at a time". With it being a 1st-year product, the noise complaints, and the fact that you void the warranty if you open it up to blow it free of dust, I opted for security over money...

I have AC+ on my MP19 and my MBP21 as well.

I never buy warrantees. The cost/benefit analysis always is tilted, strongly, to the company selling the warrantee. I've owned several Apple products going back decades and never bought Apple Care. All of the money I've saved not doing that could be put towards a repair on my new Mac Studio, and I'm still going to come out way ahead. Buying a warrantee means you are betting on you, personally, being unlucky...

Of course they aren't doing it to be nice. Literally no one thinks that. The company often making money doesn't mean it never benefits you lol. I've seen what's charged to replace/fix part of a computer and it's usually not cheap, far, far beyond what it would be with AC+... With this I understand the choice not to buy it, but to act like people are idiots for buying it with a laptop or similar is crazy to me...

It's a first year product, I went with the warranty this time though I'd usually save it for a laptop

I have always been happy with the AppleCare packages I have paid for. On a MacBook Air I had the screen, keyboard and battery replaced after 2 years; on a MacBook Pro I had the screen replaced after 3 years (and only paid a bit extra for the battery replacement as the laptop was open anyway), and on my Mac Pro, I have had the accompanying ATD replaced. These would all have been lengthy discussions with Apple about fixing IF I did not have AC.

You are probably responding to my post, which I edited before reading your post. But I never called anyone an idiot. If someone wants to spend money on "peace of mind" it's their money...

100% agree - desktops no AC - laptops / tablets yes AC.

My last AC purchase was for the ill fated 16" Intel MBP which I am glad I did as the battery degenerated quickly due to the high temps and full on fans....
Absolutely yes for a laptop - too many possible issues, especially with battery (My 16“ Max 32 core model from last fall is ripping through its battery quickly - already at 94%.

For the desktop - I don’t see it, especially for the studio. It’ll fail within the first year if at all, and it runs almost comically cool.

I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that the Mac Studio is an expensive desktop computer, and it is a first-year model. With issues already coming up, like the noise one, and the ports issues, some people have been reporting.
