whoo boy sounds like Tim might not be able to live in Silicon Valley for much longer after that pay cut...

What really piques my interest is what Tim plans to do with all that money?

And also when you have that much money, is 'Tim running Apple' really where his imagination ends (I mean, he could go do/work on anything).

He has mentioned before that he intends to eventually leave his money to charity.

The funniest thing is the guy actually has a 401k! Is that a break glass in-case of emergency thing?!

He should get 4 times that amount. He works harder than everyone who's going to comment in this thread; combined. If Apple had a tipping system, I'd be throwing my money his way. The guy needs more, because he's the head of my favourite corporate entity that makes a shiny new phone every year that I need to have.

Congrats Tim, from all of us at MacRumors, you've earned your salary and then.. enjoy your 23rd yacht! It's on us!
You need help!

Tim Cook Apple CEO of world's #1 valuable company but many CEOs like google, Microsoft, etc make more per year then Tim Cook.

I think when you are at a pay scale like this, these 'pay cuts' are really just technical in nature. He already has enough to buy anything he could possibly want.

It looks like Cook is going to be a billionaire by the time he retires. The shares and RSUs alone are current worth over $800m
That is assuming Apple is the only stock he owns (not a chance), and discounting all the annual income from years past. I'm quite sure Mr. Cook is pretty comfortably North of $1B.

When people complain of how expensive Apple stuff is and complains that a $20 upgrade in memory or SSD is $200, this is why.

While Cook's compensation is obviously quite high, as far as overall company costs are concerned it's kind of meaningless and has practically no impact on product pricing.

Apple has around 160,000 employees. If each employee was given just a $400 raise or bonus, it would cost the company more than Cook's entire compensation.

Apple sold around 230 million iPhones in 2022. If Apple sent out a minuscule 30 cent rebate for each of those iPhones, it would cost the company more than Cook's entire compensation.

"works harder"

Doubtful...but his decisions certainly involve far more capital and have been demonstrated to be far far more valuable than other people decisions. Thats how he got where he is today.

And for what's its worth....that is a pittance to his value to apple. He is working for nearly nothing given the consistent direction of apple for shareholders.
