Apple has reportedly shut down access to the Apple Developer Enterprise Program (ADEP) for Russian developers. Russian IT sources told RBC that developers lost access to the platform on February 12.

The shutdown means Russian developers can no longer use ADEP to create and distribute custom iOS apps for internal use without going through the App Store. A software company in St. Petersburg confirmed to the media outlet that all program data had been erased, making ADEP unusable.

Prior to the cut-off, Apple apparently warned companies using Enterprise certificates that they would stop working by mid-February. The certificates allow developers to sign and distribute apps.

ADEP was widely used for app testing in Russia without publishing to the App Store, but major corporations and developer companies in the country also relied on the platform for internal business apps, corporate chatbots, CRM systems, and logistics tools.

Despite Apple suspending product sales and limiting certain services like Apple Pay in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the App Store continues to operate within the country. However, Apple has complied with local regulations by removing certain applications, such as VPN services and specific news apps, after requests from Russian authorities.

AFAIK russians still available to enjoy banking apps by installing them directly by visiting a bank and hanging them their devices with a password. I hope this closes the loophole also I have dozen of relatives who rely on it and it will impact them, I still support this move. They can't pretend war is not happening.

They are. And also there is imazing which allows you to install apps that have been deleted from the App Store (as long as you had previously downloaded them). And btw there are people out there that aren't pretending, but still need access to their banks.

I guess sovereignty implies not relying on the platforms owned by a foreign countries or businesses. I am glad that this idea starts to sink in after all these years.

Ah, Russians are here, behold the superior race!

They are just funding genocide, executed by the government they've elected and support to this day - why should they be denied fruits of civilised world?

I mean, it's not like they are killing people personally, right? Just cheer for killings and pay to do it, but you can't blame a guy for being "patriotic", right?

I think it could be argued that even three years ago this kind of action is hardly likely to influence the outcome of the war, so doing it now when it looks like the two sides might be about to knock heads and stop fighting seems odd. Surely a targeted approach would have been better, with those companies using the enterprise tools to create software that was acting as some kind of combat enabler seeing their license revoked. Either way, this is unlikely to affect 99% of Russians so a bit of a non story, and Trump has the Chinese firmly in his crosshairs but they still have access to ADEP!

I’m sure Tim will soon have to do Russia’s bidding and blame the Ukrainians for the invasion and murder of 100s of thousands. Tim it seems will do anything to suck up to Trump. Truly dark times for Apple and America.
Seems history books and some basic research is lost on people buying into the propaganda from both sides. Antagonist and Protagonist roles on the mind numbed Netflix crowd I see.

They should've bricked all Apple devices there three years ago. This is nothing.
Hold on are you suggesting that Apple customers are just leasing Apple devices vice outright owning it, what happened to privacy? Regardless if one agrees with the opposite side or not who is to state either side is right. Ever hear the phrase, “to walk a mile in another’s shoes”.

I am not here to take sides and to judge, just saying no one here is without fault.

No, I'm just suggesting, that they should've cut off iCloud and App Store in russia or for russian accounts.

With Apple devices this is close to bricking it.

Yeah, it's Ukrainians who've invaded their own country and are killing themselves by thousands.

You shouldn't blame Hitler too, that was Allied propaganda.

Mate, your "it's not that obvious" bullcrap (which is LOVED by Kremlin botfarms, by the way) was rendered null and void the moment russia openly invaded sovereign country. And then annexed several regions of that country, citing "protection of our people" (which is exactly what Hitler did, if you don't know).

They are evil. They kill people. Period.

Doesn’t seem right to me. Imagine buying a toaster oven that is smart and the manufacturer plays politics and next thing you know your smart toaster oven is bricked. Governments should keep out of private businesses and business should keep out of politics. If a company wants to sell a product or service in a specific country it should consider those countries laws if it aligns with their principles as a company before following the $$$.
