The NSA is looking out for terrorist activity. Good luck to them. If my mundane emails go through them, why should I care? It'll only bore them. What have you people got to hide that's so important to world security?

Are you willing to extend this to your physical privacy? Do you mind if a government agent gives you a rectal exam just to ensure you aren't hiding anything just at random? How about if they open up your house/car and go through all of your personal paperwork? Sound fine still?

"comprised iPhones" ??

You mean jail bocken ....

How else can an iPhone get "compromised" unless a rouge app made its way to the app store, or installed from outside the store ?

Apple denying it, and allot of other companies probably to follow too..

Its either one big joke, or makes allot of good press. :)

Either way, How loyal are we now "Apple users" ? :p What if it all comes back, and it turns out to be true...

Just because a company denies something, doesn't mean they don't have the know-how .... Just look at what Google is handing off and not telling their customers about it .... If Google can do it, so can Apple...

Microsoft is there already..

Alternatively, a security expect, other than Apple, can conform Apple doesn't have a back-door, and since iOS isn't open source, then, well we have to just twiddle our thumbs longer....

Apple had no choice the matter

Be real,

It's done but not over. We must rise up if's it not already to late.

I don't think people have the where with all to stand up, It'll take work.

Take the silver spoon out of your mouth and be counted, if not for your maybe your children.

What bad guy is buying his iPhone online and getting shipped him.

Really who is the Enemy, who will they be tomorrow and makes an Enemy?

Yes, but guess what..

The problem is, just like anything, we all have the same idea, but only these few people get up and make it happen....It's not gonna work unless we all do it.

Unfortunately, we all think "Why bother, when other people can do this."

I have a feeling by the way were going, and few standing up, it IS already too late.. We can fight, but I think THEY have already made the decision, and none is going to listen to a few 1000+ people...

Today they're looking for "terrorists," tomorrow they're looking for people who pirate Game of Thrones to hand over to the media companies who donate tens of millions of dollars to both political parties.

The US government has no business in my house, or my car, or my computer.

Government is worse then a nosy wife these days. Her at least you can get rid of.

If? IF??? The government already treats an entire nation like terrorists by spying on its own citizens, and you're talking about me targeting the government for accusations without proof?

Btw, I was once wrongfully accused with the theft of 2000 dollars. When it turned out that the money had not even disappeared in the first place (technical problems caused the error), my boss didn't even apologize, nor did he inform the police that I was innocent, and he ordered me to shut up about the whole thing. It was a traumatic experience, so I know what it's like. But in this case, I don't feel bad about posting speculations about Apple giving in to such pressure from the government, which includes not only the facilitation of surveillance, but also about covering it up to keep it secret. Apple have formerly demonstrated their inclinations to do both.

You may be right about the government (specifically the NSA), but as yet THERE IS NO PROOF THAT APPLE PARTICIPATED WILLINGLY OR UNWILLINGLY.

Is it so difficult to differentiate between those things? Come with some actual proof, links to information that substantiate what you are saying. Because until now you have just been venting your feelings and opinions.

Show us where "Apple has formerly demonstrated their inclinations to both" and I will gladly concede that you are right. Until then you are just the same as any tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist. Give us some proof man!

To shay...... opps, did i just admit to having Game of Thrones

No, the choice of term was fine, it was the novel translation I was teasing about: it's "touché", the French for "touched", an acknowledgement that one's fencing opponent has scored a hit. :)

James Thurber's circa '32 New Yorker cartoon is still worth a thousand words on the subject...

If you've got nothing to hide, what's the problem? This day and age, what's wrong with eyes and ears?

Whats you address please?
You parents address?
What school do you children go to and what times?
Where do you work?
What's your position there?
How much do you earn?
What sexual position does your girlfriend like?
Photo of her please with her name, address and phone number.

Nothing to hide, please share.

There's plenty of reasons to dislike this but this type of argument is tedious and misses the mark.

In what way does it miss the mark?

Those comments were written in direct response to someone's assertion that if you've got nothing to hide, you don't have a problem.

The points above show that everyone has plenty of things to hide, so the argument "if you've nothing to hide..." falls at the first hurdle.

Anyone who beLIEves that this stuff hasn't been going on for years is out to lunch. Go get a lollipop and turn on the tv. It's a fricken cell phone, obviously they have the ability to fully access it. Wake up.

Just because it has been going on doesn't make it right.

That's true and I agree, it's definitely not right. I was just trying to wake people up who think Apple (or any other company) hasn't co-operated with certain organizations to make their technologies exploitable.

Of course Apple will deny it. The NSA won't let them admit it.

If that were the case than the NSA and Apple would avoid any publicity towards this at all. A public denial opens Apple up to a large amount of litigation if it turned out to be that they did cooperate with the NSA or whatever other organisation.

I'm more worried about organisations that don't comment on this at all.

Do you have any sources for that? Or are you just speculating like many here?
