Is there any other battery pack besides Apple’s that supports two-way charging (like I plug the phone in and it charges the phone and the battery pack)?
It's only limited by SW by Apple, so no - only Apple products can do that

I say this with mixed feelings but honestly I just hope they discontinue the battery pack and replace it back with a battery case just like they had before.

I've used both products extensively with my iPhone 7 and iPhone 12, so I know them fairly well. The MagSafe Battery Pack is the one and only Apple device I've bought that I am not 100% happy with.
For starters, it wasn't clear to me how to correctly use the battery pack from the get go (you have better results if you just start the day with it attached and remove it once it's depleted) and it's almost impossible to use it on hot summer days. It just throttles immediately. It's also difficult to do heavy usage with it, with things that warm up the phone a lot, such as when using Maps, as it'll throttle briefly at some point. You will also see this on mildly hot days just by having the phone in your pocket... I've ran into situations where I had it on all day and ended up with 100% battery on the case and my phone dead, because the thing didn't charge due to heat...

With that being said the MagSafe battery is insanely practical and can cover some, or most day to day situations, and I understand that I may be a rather demanding user. But the case did cover for ALL use cases I've thrown it into, so...

Is it a matter of different coil placement on the iPhone 15, or is Apple just discontinuing to offer the USB-C version? I have the current MagSafe pack and it has come in handy several times.
They were too lazy to update just port… so I hope following rumors that they want to add two coils to them allowing stacking. But who knows.

I can suggest Benks chargers - not heating up even my 11 Pro with magsafe charge and has usb-c. They newer version let’s charge powerbank and phone at the same time when with first gen I had to plug powerbank wait some time and finally add phone

Now might be a good time to pick up the original Magsafe Duo at a significant discount, especially if you're sticking with a phone with lightning. A new USB-C version might come with improved charging speeds for the watch, but you'd lose the benefit of being able to unplug the Duo and plug the lightning cable directly into the phone when you're crunched for time and need a quick charge.

It's one of those situations where if they just discontinue without a new product SKU right away, they can kill existing inventory since it creates FOMO.

Both are great accessories, worth owning.

Super frustrating that they discontinue products and don’t give folks even a single day to buy more if they wanted to stock up..

They are just “gone” with no notice.

Sometimes I can’t stand how Apple operates
Infuriating

Yes , however as much as I really do like this product,

considering to stock it up wouldn’t make sense because it would come with a lightning port and I’m already on the iPhone 15 with USB C

The logical solution now is a new battery pack with USB C

MagSafe Duo is great if you have iPhone 12 or 13 Series, or maybe newest non Pros. The design is flawed with massive camera bump and I can't believe Apple seems to ignore the phone design for their own accessory.
