The iPhone X was released after the 10 years were up so my expectation is they’ll stick to that calculation.

And the iPad launched in March or April of 2010, but it was announced in January, right?
Announced January. Available for sale April.

In any case, Apple doesn't seem to worry too much about these types of anniversaries.

Just lol ... shooting for the stars there. Thunder port 3 would just increase the price since apple would need to license it from intel . Doubtful about that screen as well...

Thunderbolt is still tied to Intel chipsets - (Host Device)

Correct.

The subject line of the thread is asking whether we'll see a fall update OR whether there will be an "10 year anniversary" version next spring. Definitely not suggesting that this fall / this year is the 10 year anniversary :)

Good catch - thanks for pointing that out.

Anyone care to change their vote with today’s Gurman report? :p
Thanks for letting us know there is a new report today from him. For those who haven’t seen it:

Also coming in 2019: refreshed versions of the iPad Pro with upgraded cameras and faster chips, an entry-level iPad with a larger screen, new versions of the Apple Watch, and the first revamp to the MacBook Pro laptop in three years, the people said.

Thanks— I should have included the relevant quote. I was just in a hurry :D

Now I’m starting to mentally play the game of “when”. Usually it would be October. But if the bump is minor enough they could lump it in with September. (Original iPad Pro was announced in September 2015).

Good to hear Gurman confirm the fall refresh for iPad Pro. It's almost a given because of the iPadOS launch. I think the updated OS, camera, and hopefully RAM will convince many more Yoga and Surface users to try iPad Pro.

I wish Gurman or Kuo could say more about the 10.2" model. The specs, feature, and price triangle for that product is more challenging with the current lineup.

I may be crazy, but I’m betting on Face ID for the 10.2”.

2200x1536 screen, in about the same size as the current 9.7”. A12.

It would be nice to have Face ID as a 2019 product, but I think the rear camera on the iPad is in more desperate need of an upgrade. Right now, iPad has a 8MP/1.12um sensor, which seems to be from the iPhone 4 era and is terrible indoors. My bet would be a better single shooter on the back, but not a telephoto lens as Mac Otakara predicts.

Maybe they'll replace it with the camera from the iPad Pro 9.7 inch?

Anything as long as it’s better and has no camera bump. iPads should lie flat on the desk, no exceptions. (Fingers crossed)

I think they should do something aspirational like the 20th Anniversary Mac. OLED screen, nearly indestructible, with no physical buttons, dual FaceID modules and dual USB 4.0 ports. At least 8GB RAM.

I'd never cough up the money but I'd love to see it.

My iPads always lie flat because I use a case. Camera bumps are not a concern for a lot of us.

True. Now let it not be a concern for the remaining users, many of which like to use their iPads without cases.

Having to add a case to fix a design annoyance is only beneficial for Apple. Oh yes, and for those oh-so concerned about scratches.

Let’s hope they don’t charge as much as for the TAM.
