hi guys
ill give the corporate number a ring later and request the email of the highest ranking executive in this branch.

Can anyone chip in with persoanl accounts of whether they have received replacements due to large manufacturing faults such this a chassis failure either in this revision or the last

You're just not getting this. It's not a manufacturing default, it's a simple adjustment. If it was so bad, why didn't you return it during the 14 day period instead of waiting a month? Let them adjust it and it will be better than new.

mate,

first issue, many people are able to get a replacement under the same circumstances instead of send their set in and risk having the exterior scratched or worse damaged.

i dont understand why as mentioned by zipzap, i should be treated any different from the others who have had the same issue to the same extent and have had theirs replaced? What is the cause of this double standard?

furthermore i would like to add, it was not noticed that this set had any warping initially

Many people?

None in this thread, apparently.

I seriously doubt many have had theirs replaced after a month. Maybe during the 14 day period. And don't you think it's possible you didn't notice it because it wasn't there? It's not that hard to twist the case and make it have a slight warp. This can be solved as described before.

So, let me get this straight. You checked the MBA when you got it and it didn't wobble. Now it wobbles and you feel it's a manufacturing defect that Apple should replace the whole machine? You don't feel any responsibility that maybe you twisted it? And you don't feel you should let Apple fix it, since it's obviously a manufacturing defect that mysteriously appeared after you got it?

OK. Right.

That's what I was suggesting - thanks for bringing that up again.

The adjustment is actually from the procedure in the service manual (for first gen - I'll try and look it up for the late model and post back). The warping might not be enough to change the fit to the chassis noticeably. It doesn't take much to create a business card thickness gap under a corner.

Edit: Here's the note from the 13" Late 2010 reassembly procedure for the bottom case:

Reassembly Note: Install screws in order shown above. If sequence is not followed, bottom case might wobble when placed on level surface.

Odds are, adjusting the bottom screws is all that's required. Why it might happen after use? Hard to say - perhaps one or more screws were torqued differently, and with temperature changes might have allowed the bottom to warp slightly.

If you didn't notice it when you first got it, how do you know the issue was there from the beginning?

I believe Apple is correct here. If it's within the first 14 days, they give you a new one. Beyond that, it is assumed it wasn't shipped that way and they fix it. They have to fix it, and not give you a new one unless they fail to fix it properly. If they fix it, and it still isn't right, you would have reason to complain.

Right now, they're being more than fair.

In addition, watch all of the double and triple posts. You're supposed to use the quote feature and quote all the replies within one post at a time.

I actually get warnings every time I do it, but there are different standards for different people around here... it seems to be who you know, or who you differ with about opinions and they get so mad as to challenge you for everything.

Best wishes with it. I hope you're happy with the end result.
