apple employee dropped my phone - what would be a good resolution?
Pick it up, dust it off, put it in pocket, and move on.

a pathetic $11hr RETAIL EMPLOYEE who doesn’t give a rats ass about apple.
Until you need to take the phone in for something else and they look at it see the screen being off a bit or open it and find something loose inside or not quite in the same place and refuse to work on the device because of it.Pick it up, dust it off, put it in pocket, and move on.
Childcare. I'm not lugging two kids under 4 half way across the city on public transport, to then do.. what exactly, while I talk to the grownups to resolve this.
Tim should come with a Xs.Completely agree OP, Tim Cook should come to your house personally with a new iPhone 7 and unbox it infront of you.
Hopefully he doesn’t drop it, though. Boy that’ll cause a whole heap of trouble.

Okay people. It’s not “apple DROPPED the phone” it’s a pathetic $11hr RETAIL EMPLOYEE who doesn’t give a rats ass about apple.
But I don’t think it’s reasonable to ask for a different color or any other exceptions when they are replacing the iPhone regardless.
That's how it works in business generally. Sometimes exceptions are made for one reason or another, most of the time they aren't. Nothing really new or surprising or strange or horrible about that rather basic reality.I think you may have misunderstood that part. I wasn't asking for a different colour in a "Actually I'd rather have black" way. I was suggesting it because my phone lives in a case (except when it is being repaired...) and I literally couldn't give a crap what colour I get. It seems silly if they had, say, a silver one in stock for replacements but I have to wait 7 days for a gold one.
WTF man? They made a mistake like everybody else from this planet! Eventually they have assumed it and they are giving you the best resolution here.
And no, they will never switch a device with another specification. It doesn't matter that is a size (GB) or colour, it still another specification than what you have.
If you made the mistake how would you feel if you already did your best to help fix it and the person still want more from you?
Try with other company where they don't even switch your device ...
You people are adding a lot more to this story than what is in the post and making way too many assumptions.
Should the phone be replaced? Yes. Should it take over a week to replace? No. If there’s no way around that timeframe, it seems perfectly reasonable to be offered some type of compensation or a more accommodating solution (loaner?).
I don’t read entitlement. I read frustration with having to be without a device for 7-10 days, which could be someone’s only phone or computer device through no fault of their own.
I understand that the phone does not appear to be damaged, but that doesn't mean it isn't, or, as others already stated, will create a problem down the road. You should read this thread again. OP states his phone was not damaged. As in it still works. So what if he has to wait a week for a replacement. He's not without his phone while waiting.

I had my iPhone 7 battery replaced today. While collecting it, the employee dropped it on the floor. I saw this, but wasn't sure it was mine. I watched like a hawk until the "collection box" was emptied and sure enough nobody else collected an iPhone 7. The employees didn't raise the issue, and seemed to want to pretend it hadn't happened and hope nobody noticed.
There's no obvious/visible damage, but dropping a phone from that height can't be a good thing? And it's way out of warranty, so I don't want to find out in a day or a week that it's knackered.
The store agreed to replace it, but I have to wait 7-10 days for a new one to arrive. Why can't they replace with a different colour (they insist that it can't be done. What a stupid system!) Anyway... should I be happy with this, or should I be pushing for more? Ideally they'd be speeding up the process, refunding my battery replacement fee, or giving me an accessory or something to make the wait a bit more palatable. Would asking for one of those make me unreasonable?
Plus, it was in a box when it dropped.
