what is a "fanboy" ? Someone who likes Apple's products ? Ok, I'm a fanboy.
If a fanboy is someone who can't judge things (including Apple's products) by himself, without be somewhat "biased", then I'm NOT a fanboy.

But what I really CANNOT understand is the presence of Apple haters here, in this forum. If I don't like a product, a brand or its commercial policy, I'm not going to sign up on a forum speaking about that brand.
There are people here, and I can name several, who posts just to bash Apple, just to piss off Apple users. And they have thousands of post on the forum !
That I cannot understand.
Get a life.

Neither,
I'm not a fanboy or a hater.

I like apple products, those that fit my needs and those that don't, I pass on. I neither hate, nor love apple. Its a multibillion dollar corporation, and being such I don't really bow down at the alter of apple.

I'm in the same boat as maflynn. :)

with that signature, and with a little search about your recent posts, your vote should be clear.

What does that have to do with it? One can like OSX and the Mac hardware while being disgusted with Apple's app store approval policies. You don't have to like everything Apple does, and not liking everything Apple does doesn't make you a hater.

No, my vote is just fine thank you very much.

IMO, IOS stinks, no doubt about it. Its the disney edition of OSX - nice and locked down for the least computer illerate of consumer who trips over their own shoe lace. However, like I said, Apple computers and OSX are both great.

No middle ground?

I love my iMac, Magic Mouse, iPod touch, Mac OS X, aluminum keyboard, iWork & iLife.
I fell out of love with my iPhone 3g & Safari.
I detest my Mighty Mouse and Mobile Me.

I also love some of the competition's products too which instantly grants you "h8ter" status here by some. :(

Even talking about competing products will get you routinely slammed on this board.

You can talk about the competition but as long as it equates to little more than Micro$oft/Google/Adobe/Dell/Steve Ballmer/et;al suxx0rz. :p

It isn't all that bad here really as some of the Android threads have been great (N1 switchers thread). Some real good negative/positive discussion there.

I'm neither, but that doesn't stop others

I never purchased a Windows-based computer but I owned over a dozen Macs in the last decade and that's what I have been using for years. I used Windows XP at work in the past and I tried Windows 7; also I can see others working on it so I know what it is about. Currently, I haven't even got a copy of my christmas present-XP on Parallels installed.

Yes, I am very critical about Apple Inc but this hasn't always been the case. There were times when we were just given defective products and we thought that occasional mistakes happen, so we forgave them. That charm and underdog status is gone and sadly, it's left with the quality control.

Today, I feel that my intelligence is being insulted by Apple Inc on a regular basis and I can less and less tolerate some strong hatred, smugness and arrogance that the company attracts from - I assume - a new and young audience.

I could buy a very decent car from my annual mortgage payments, yet I regularly get accused of not being able to afford a bloody phone if I have doubts about one...

It took me the recent discovery of two old eMacs from the garage, but now I genuinely believe that Apple's making us forget about what computers should be about. The obsession with the hardware itself and assuming that one becomes superior by simply buying a particular brand of computer is just fundamentally sad and in many individual cases, pathetic.

Yeah but that's most likely because it's mac rumors not android or Dell rumors. Would you go onto an board about opera and classical music and talk about Britney spears and Phish?

Some of us "Mac Rumors" members who own (you guessed it) Macs also enjoy using other companies products (shocking but true!).

Are we forbidden to mention other products that may compare to Apple's offerings?

EDIT:
Some of the articles posted by the staff are even directly about completing products!

I really don't know. I am interested in all tech and Apple produce some top level stuff. Intelligent comparisons (aside from Android/iPhone/Winblowz/OSX suxx0rz) genuinely interest me.

Are you against genuine, level headed discussion?

Nope but i can see why people would be against it. This board has turned into android central at times. I love all products in fact i have 2 windows machines that i built myself as well as an Alienware laptop.

I'm both. I love Mac OS X, Mac Pros, MacBooks and iPods. I hate the iOS, iPhones (to be fair, I hate all phones:p), :apple:TVs and iMacs.

I'm leaning towards the Apple Hater camp with the direction Apple seems headed. If this keeps up, I'll be going Linux in a couple of years.

Well I 100% agree with you there. The Evo 4g thread quickly degenerated into a "but but but... the Evo has this!" When it was patently obvious that very few people were interested.

The majority of the posts here are in good spirits and fun so I love to stick around! (The iPhone 4 might be their vista thread is full of laughs!) :D

Hows your streak holding up? I read some reviews on it but it's good to get a true users opnion on it.

I don't like fanboys or "haters" and I enjoy a good argument with both.

Just as I don't like or hate Apple. They've made some really good products (iMac, Macbook) and some really terrible ones (iPhone 4, iPod Shuffle 3G, iPod Speakers) and they're doing things I really don't like (too much focus on mobile market, not much focus on their workstation side).

I couldn't live without OSX now it's to ingrained in my life but if they replace OSX with iOS then I'm gone.

My streak is infinitely better than my Archos. Capacitive screens really do make a difference to me. The fact it is currently running Android 1.6 is a bummer as FroYo would speed the things up quite a bit (as it did with my Nexus).

Very pleased with it but it's far to big for use as a phone tho. :p

Wow! It's almost a 60/40 split. Considering the selection bias, I'm actually amazed at how many people on Macrumors.com don't like Apple inc.

Granted I've been one of them after being yelled at by their customer support staff, but I guess that's just par for the cores, huh? ;)

I dislike Apple as a company. Some of their prices and policies piss me off. I do like my MBA but I purchased it on Craigslist so my money didn't go to Apple anyway.

I think given this iPhone 4 debacle has made me (and everyone) see what Apples really like when under immense pressure, and like most situations where Apple is at fault, they simple won't admit it.

It's the one thing that really pisses me off about Apple, and it doesn't just relate to the iPhone 4, I've had it when I've had issues with my Macs and iPhone 3GS too, the staff have the mantra that Apple can do no wrong, it's a moronic ideology to believe in, especially when you couple that with the sheer arrogance some of the staff have.

Being accused of jamming a screw driver in my super drive was probably my worst encounter with Apple. It honestly makes me not want to buy another product from them, if I have another problem, I don't want to have random accusations thrown at me...

I'd only like Apple if they were just a bit more honest, I think they're really taking for granted coming so huge in recent years, it only takes a few wrong moves to really start to lag behind.

That said, for the most part, Apple make amazingly well thought out devices and computers that do 'just work'.

I like Apples products but hate their arrogant attitude.

I've been an apple customer long enough to see that their actions regarding this debacle is not anything new.

I remember owning a G4 Powerbook that had display issues. They refused to acknowledge the problem for about 6-8 months finally giving into pressure and fix the problem for free. it was a manufacturers problem that caused white spots to appear on the screen due to increased pressure because of the restraining clips and it affected a high percentage of owners.

Threads, letters, emails, online petitions came and went, and not one word from apple.

Seeing how they're dealing with this problem is sad but similar. The only difference now is that apple is market leader not a niche computer maker.

Oh yeah I'm fully aware this is nothing new, I'm so thankful I couldn't afford an iMac G5, and by the time I could, I got a C2D, I saved myself from all the issues the G5s experienced.

  • The water-cooled Power Mac G5s leaking
  • 1st gen iPod Nano (which took 4 years?? for Apple to admit...)
  • Macbook/Pro Superdrives dying
  • MBA hinge snapping
  • Airport Express' overheating after 18 months (mines been going 2 years, the only reason I can guess is because it's so much cooler in England than USA)

That's all the ones I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's many many more.

EDIT: Apple to hold iPhone 4 press conference

Let's see where this one goes...
