now, if they do release a new iMac next Tuesday, will they be in Apple stores right away? because I have next Tuesday set aside as a "check apple website, see that new iMacs have arrived, rush down to Apple store and get one" day. does anyone know?
Actually I was going to take Monday off, as spend the day with my current Mac as its last.
Kidding aside, I'll check the websites on Tuesday, and if there are demos, go down to the store after work to see it. Then BTO the sucker either from the store or when I get home. I wouldn't buy it in store just b/c I will most likely up the HDD to a 500 if that isn't stock, would BTO a 2nd internal HDD if they offer it (with Time Machine I think that is a possibility - that is unless they decide to make the HDD(s) user accessible again), would up the CPU to the 2.4 or whatever if they go the MBP route and the 2.2 is stock, and would up the GPU if they offer that again like they do on the current 24inchers. And if the price is about the same I would up the RAM too depending on the stock to at least 2GB, preferable single stick, but that all depends on the configs, capacity, etc. as well as the 3rd party pricing.
Lastly, I would have to check if they will be available on Apple EPP right away, b/c sometimes they don't let employees order new product for a month until demand subsides. I have a couple friends who would get me the EPP friends discount which with all the BTO options I would want would be a nice savings. Even if I had to wait another 3-4 weeks to order, as much as it would be hard to do that, the savings may well be worth it.
