In which I answered... don't create a thread if you don't want to hear people's thoughts then.

I have a white 3gs, a week into ownership i noticed small hair line cracks at the bottom of my phone. Im not taking it back for replacement even thou they have gotten worse. what i did do was call apple care to notify them of the issue incase it gets to the point where i would need a replacement.

Here's what you do, the last time I went to an apple store they had about 5 or 6 iPhones on display. All but one had cracks on the switch. Next time check the iPhones there, that way he knows about the problem. Even ask If he/she has a iPhone and look at theirs. Most iPhones have the cracking problem.

Completely satisfied. Went to my appointment on Saturday. The Genius gave me a new iphone and a new usb cable within 3 minutes. Talk about awesome. Dind't have to argue with him or anything. Dang! Now I'll have to get the new iPhone in June. Dang you good Apple Store customer service!

Just got my iPhone back today. And guess what?

It is worse thamn when I sent it in!!

Major crack on botton has grown to almost 1/3 of an inch, (due to them opening it I'm sure), they failed to screw the two screws in fully on the bottom so one of them is almost falling out, they didn't put it back together right so there is an 1/8 of the top of the phone that I can look right into the phone itself and it also makes the top button hard to press.

Wow good job apple. You wouldn't sell something like that so why would you send it back to me like that?

I have an appointment tomorrow at the apple store. I am going to make sure I get it replaced, especially now.

We discovered hairline cracks on my wife's white 3GS the next morning after we got it home. Cracks around the silent switch, the volume buttons, the headphone jack, and one of the bottom screws. It was obviously cracked this way out of the box. Replaced the next day no questions asked - the new phone (also white) still has no cracks a month later.

I would suggest that even if you aren't "OCD" and have no problem with such cosmetic issues, you should still bring your cracked phone in, as this is a design flaw that Apple has an obligation to correct and not be let off the hook for.
