true. expect crabby repairs if something goes astrayBe careful going to a reseller. Apple is very easy on returns. Not sure all resellers are.
Just finished talking with apple support.
I have paid full price via apple web site for my first apple computer, they asked me for a refund FIRST or a replacement, I mention to then that I have paid full price and expected a fully trouble free imac, and that i could get a new imac from a reseller much cheaper, they wouldn't refund anything!
So, I requested a full refund, I will get a new imac via apple reseller and save about $300 dollars or more

*** GOOD NEWS FROM APPLE ***I got $150 discount and a free printerand I can keep this iMAC until the new ones arrive.
How did u get them to do this I'll be returning my second one in a couple weeks and I actually asked if I could keep it until the update. They said the best they could do is give me 30 days to switch it out or get a refund

ALL of the iMacs have yellow tint to some degree. It's inherent in the design. Please take a look at the iMac patent for the LED backlit system and you'll see that Apple even states the lack or diminished color uniformity found within this new technology. That a dispersement of color will be evident. The process Apple has engineered to implement it has created these yellow-like blotches.
Apple is placating their customers with replacements, however, some of the replacements have actually been former returns, evidenced by the scuffing and other indentifying clues.
If you've been following the board, no one has really recevied a perfect iMac, devoid of any color inconsistences. They ALL SETTLE. Please understandthat before yopu put yourself throguh a long frustrating cycle of return/replace/repair - all to no avail. Often, they have MORE problems. not less.
You need to either accept this fact or look elsewhere. The yellow tint problem is not going away. In fact, I now belive that the Rev. B (soon to be out in the Fall) will also contain this same flaw. It is just the technology, for now.
Best of luck in deciding what to do.
I just received my new imac 27, i7 (28-06-2010)
I ran the screen test, unfortunately my screen has yellow tint issue
I have ran all updates and firmware within apple update with no luck
Going to call Apple for a replacement!
And this my friends is why you should never (unless it's a portable/mobile device) put a computer and a screen in the same box.
Perhaps one day Apple will see sense?
An ideal solution (that would probably keep everyone happy, give users more choice and save Apple a hell of a lot of money in returns) would be to have the iMac look roughly the same as it does now, but have the computer un-clip and come away from the back of the screen (be means of a connector bar)
So, (in theory) you could have the Mac in a plain grey rectangular box that connected onto the back of the monitor screen to make it into one unit.
If either part failed, then either part could be replaced.
If done right, even giving the possibility of unclipping your iMac box from the back of your 24" screen and clipping it onto the back of a 27" screen.
where did you find a screen test to run?
i just got a 21" and it was yellowed and dark on the bottom.
they had mr bring it to the Apple store for a screen replacement.
now the entire left side has a yellow haze and the right side appears more a true white.
rrgghhhh
