I'm kind of confused. Are you saying this Mac was manufactured one month in the future in July of 2010?

My calendar says it's June 2010 right now. Maybe I've just been watching too much Doctor Who.

Ssh!

Sssh! Dr. Who is in this thread!

So I just got one of these and all I can say is when I booted it my jaw dropped in awe over how great the screen is.

BUT....how do I know if I have the "yellow tint issue" or not? My own Acer 23" screen has a more yellow tint than this thing. Ideas?

Just finished talking with apple support.

I have paid full price via apple web site for my first apple computer, they asked me for a refund FIRST or a replacement, I mention to then that I have paid full price and expected a fully trouble free imac, and that i could get a new imac from a reseller much cheaper, they wouldn't refund anything!

So, I requested a full refund, I will get a new imac via apple reseller and save about $300 dollars or more 

cheerssssssssssssssss :p

Be careful going to a reseller. Apple is very easy on returns. Not sure all resellers are.

now i am confused. you think going to a third party reseller will get you a better machine? sure it is cheaper($300+ cheaper???)

What makes you think it will be any better? Same people make them ya know ;)

Sounds more like you were a dick and they would rather give you your money back vrs dealing with more of you attitude.

*** GOOD NEWS FROM APPLE ***I got $150 discount and a free printer :p and I can keep this iMAC until the new ones arrive.

How did u get them to do this I'll be returning my second one in a couple weeks and I actually asked if I could keep it until the update. They said the best they could do is give me 30 days to switch it out or get a refund

More reason not to buy an iMac until they have updated it to the newer revision.

Never be a Revision A owner. Just like iphone 4 with the antenna problem which will absolutely be fixed in iphone 5.

Remember A stands for "All the trouble with a new design"

And B stands for "Better design with all the lessons learned from last revision"

So you called back again to ask for a discount or something? Can you tell us how it happened?

To the OP:

ALL of the iMacs have yellow tint to some degree. It's inherent in the design. Please take a look at the iMac patent for the LED backlit system and you'll see that Apple even states the lack or diminished color uniformity found within this new technology. That a dispersement of color will be evident. The process Apple has engineered to implement it has created these yellow-like blotches.

Apple is placating their customers with replacements, however, some of the replacements have actually been former returns, evidenced by the scuffing and other indentifying clues.

If you've been following the board, no one has really recevied a perfect iMac, devoid of any color inconsistences. They ALL SETTLE. Please understandthat before yopu put yourself throguh a long frustrating cycle of return/replace/repair - all to no avail. Often, they have MORE problems. not less.

You need to either accept this fact or look elsewhere. The yellow tint problem is not going away. In fact, I now belive that the Rev. B (soon to be out in the Fall) will also contain this same flaw. It is just the technology, for now.

Best of luck in deciding what to do.

May I possibly suggest, that like the iPhone 4. The issue may be inherent in the "design" rather than the technology. And Apple won't change the "design" as it costs too much to do.

I don't really accept that all screens that use led backlighting have to suffer slight yellowing towards the bottom of the screen.

I can however accept that due to a less than perfect design (led layout/diffuser) that this may occur.

I was very polite on the phone with the support people and the cancellation department, they called me if I would like a replacement and get a $150 discount and a free printer.

POLITE IS THE KEY :D

my second imac arrive today...worse that the first one :(

I just receive my second imac 27, this is worse that the first one, on the top left corner, on the middle and on the right hand side all along.

This is my first switch to mac, i am so disappointed, should i ask for a refund and wait for the new imac or just ask for a replacement again....another two weeks waiting

And this my friends is why you should never (unless it's a portable/mobile device) put a computer and a screen in the same box.

Perhaps one day Apple will see sense?

An ideal solution (that would probably keep everyone happy, give users more choice and save Apple a hell of a lot of money in returns) would be to have the iMac look roughly the same as it does now, but have the computer un-clip and come away from the back of the screen (be means of a connector bar)

So, (in theory) you could have the Mac in a plain grey rectangular box that connected onto the back of the monitor screen to make it into one unit.

If either part failed, then either part could be replaced.

If done right, even giving the possibility of unclipping your iMac box from the back of your 24" screen and clipping it onto the back of a 27" screen.

where did you find a screen test to run?

i just got a 21" and it was yellowed and dark on the bottom.
they had mr bring it to the Apple store for a screen replacement.
now the entire left side has a yellow haze and the right side appears more a true white.

rrgghhhh

Thats a decent idea, but aesthetically speaking, apple would never go for a rectangular box mounted to the back of the monitor. Apples all about the unibody design and streamlined form factor, even if it does rack up more substantial costs when something goes wrong.

Test/report your iMac for yellow tint, grey bar, flicker, dead pixels, buzzing monitors, etc.

Weird

I'm as anal as the next guy.

I used to be a graphic designer for chrissakes but quit that racket when I realized I could make a lot more money doing the I.T. thing.

My 27" screen is about as perfect as I could want. No yellow blotches.

I've seen pictures of the blotches online but it kinda sucks that so many of you
are experiencing this to some degree.

I'm sure mine might have some somewhere but if it's there I don't notice it.
