Apple has officially become a mean spirited company

I've never seen Apple be like this.

Greedy, selfish and immoral.

When they removed things like FireWire ports or floppy drives or cd drives, it didn't feel mean spirited. It felt "soft".

Removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7, which has exactly the same design and the previous 2 generations of phones, is unacceptable.

Charinging $2399 for a base 15" MacBook Pro is unacceptable.

Using lower spec dGPUs are unacceptable.

If Apple puts such high standards on themselves, then we have the right to vote with our wallets.

Everyone is free to move to other companies. Thing is, seems other companies are trending up on computer prices as well as tablets and mobile devices take over the low end. As for wallet voting, I see the new MBPs are now delivering in December so there's that.

Loyalty to Apple is something they take seriously. Some people have been loyal to Apple since the 80s.

I agree with you man...but these people that are pissed have a point. And I wouldn't say they're whining over nothing. There is definitely a tonal shift in apple as of late and it's a strange thing to witness.

Ya know what one of my biggest pet peeves is? When people will just randomly say "steves jobs wouldn't have". It's like come on man...the man has been dead for quite some time. We are moving on!

BUT...apple has definitely become complacent. And their keynote was completely devoid of any passion for their products. Not that apple is doomed, because they're doing very well for themselves...but we have seen big companies fall. So sure. A couple mis steps here and there are understandable. But making it a normal part of your "business as usual" changes the entire company culture and the apple 10 years from now might not be anything like how we like to think of apple as of a few years ago

I also don't see prices as insane for the package. I'm never going to cozy up to windows. Apple support is first rate if something happens. The surface is even pricier or comparable and I would personally still prefer a tablet separate from my computer. And the touch bar seems creative to me, a nice alternative to a full touch screen. Not everyone might agreee, but it's a clever evolutionary iteration in a powerful (enough) computer that I'm looking forward to receiving, and I'm happy to have spent the money. At the end of the day, grass always seems greener on the other side but in my experience, often sets you up for a return. And if not, that's great too. Options are a great thing.

We just had a 300 euro raise earlier this year, now we add 400 euro on top of that.
that's nearly 1k in dollars they cash in without adding anything physically.

Same in Canada. Base 15" was CAD $2000 about 18 months ago, now $3,000.

I know that's not entirely Apple's fault but raising the base US price amplified it.

5400 RPM HDDs in iMacs, 16 GB in iPhones. Really nothing new here.

Whether or not it's worth the higher price is of course up to the buyer to decide. I personally think it is not, and will be sticking with my late 2013 13". Apple could definitely have done more to justify the price, like include 16 GB RAM on the 13" with Touch Bar.

Well, I have been posting with a defeated feeling as well. I have spent months prepping for projects for 2017, along other things, spent few years trying to get money together for a new mac, etc) And 2 months before 2017 happens I sit here sorta gutted with stupid options and the bad news that we won't even see a mac pro or iMac and I end up with having to spend a lot of money on old hardware configs or even more so on something new .. sigh.

Hey, I'm with you. I was sorely disappointed after learning that 32 GB of RAM was not an option so I know where you're coming from. But I'm trying to analyze it from an objective point of view and then make an educated decision from there. My comments on whining stem from the fact that this forum seems to be out of control right now and not many people are talking with any common sense.

I choice mac over windows computers because mac OS is much more stabilized and i just like it better. But the removal of all the hardwares and raise of prices are just being non sense and unreasonable. I will be leaving soon and they are certainly going to lose a lot of customers

I wanted to go with iMac, because it has 4 slots, and I can push in 64gb ram.

Grow up. Just because Apple release something, doesn't mean you have to buy it.
I'm still using my 2012 Macbook Air. Was hoping for a cheaper retina Macbook or a new lighter 13" Macbook Air, but nothing. So I'm keeping my 2012 and will get new battery for it. Cheaper for me as well. No point in stressing out about something that doesn't meet you needs.

If you don't need the portability of a laptop, absolutely go with a new iMac! My mid-2014 iMac (see my sig) does great and handles my needs quite well.

Yes, notebookcheck has them listed on par with:

450/455-->960m
460 --->965m

The 965m is in the Surface Book's "power base" or whatever it's called, for comparison. It's a mid-range card.

Mac OS Sierra is no longer "much more stablized" anymore. Just check the Sierra sub-forum. too many problems and bugs.

I might end up going that route. Still weighing the options right now, but so far I'm kinda liking ZenBook Pro in spring time (hold out for a 10-series NVIDIA GPU), and 27" Retina iMac now (3TB fusion) that I can add RAM to if I need.

Yeah, what do I do.. wait another 6 months to get the new iMac first half of 2017, because it sure looks like we won't see one in November. Or just ignore that a new one with modern hardware will come out and spend the 3500 euro now on last years product with two year old tech in it.

True, I even pre-ordered one. I may cancel however. There will always exist a certain number of Apple faithful who will buy, buy, buy, no matter what. Let's see what Mac shipments looks like after the first of the year and beyond to get an idea of what the population at large thinks of these new machines. They may love them, they may not, we'll just have to wait and see. The second financial quarter after these things have released should be pretty telling, considering the aforementioned Apple faithful that will pad the first quarter results (me, potentially being one of them).
