IMO that sounds like you don't have enough experience yet (I could be wrong, though)

One of the things they couldn't seem to stress enough was the fact we didn't need any experience, it's all a bit naff.

Actually, if you do a quick google search, it seems like that's the standard rejection letter they send out to everyone, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

Yup, seems that email is the standard, and after reading a bit more into Apple it seems we may not have got the job due to posting here that we went to a hiring event, Apple don't like their employee's talking about their jobs on blogs, twitter or forums, so perhaps we were turned down as a pre-emptive thing? (or maybe i'm just being paranoid?)
Really sucks because i was looking forward to getting through the interviews and working in the store, everyone i know says i would be perfect for the job :(
