Grado SR60's or SR80's are sweet. Pretty comfy and amazing sound. Made in USA too. They may be ugly as ****, which will offend many of the nerdy Mac zealots here, but man are they sweet.
I didn't want something that matched my iPod. Too many people knowing I have one - not a good feeling in my neighbourhood . Besides the e3c's are twice the price. Can you tell the difference out and about or on the subway?
i understand your feelings about the white cords...i don't like them either...but since we're on a mac forum, i thought i'd throw that out there.
i think the e3c are that much better than the e2c, but again, that's a personal preference. the beauty of the canalphones (since they actually go inside your ear canal) is that they block out a lot of the noise around you. especially on the subway, this is gold. also, for those in europe, where the volume levels are lowered on the ipod, this makes the ipod sound louder, since you don't have to fight all that noise around you.
check out head-fi.org...they always have people selling their headphones at pretty good prices.

here here...yes, these are terrific headphones. i personally like the sr60 over the sr80 (IMO, the sr60 are the best value headphones PERIOD - better value for the sound than qualia, sony d10, electrostats, akg, sennheisers, you name it)...the sr80 has slightly increased bass, though, for you bass-fiends.
