People have no idea what e-waste is, it just sounds like something they're supposed to say.If you're trading it in, how does it create e-waste? Apple will either sell it refurbished or break it down for parts and recycle it.
I have the same device for my film editing and saw that and is near the price of an Ultra! I figured, this iPad is a lifer for me now and will eventually become a backup. So the maximum Apple will give you for a $2400 iPad Pro (2 TB w/ cellular) is $580? For real?
I am tempted by this but also it bugs me to think I got it only 2 years ago. So am I supposed to do this every 2 years? In addition to being a hassle, it seems like it also creates more e-waste.
Whew added $5 trade value to my ever so much more expensive Titanium Series 7 watch! Keeping this thing until theres a redesign or the wheels fall off.

Depends on how you view the Series 6’s value. Is it worth let’s say, $160 off a Series 9? Or does the extra 2 years of life it potentially just got hold you over til the Series 10/X and beyond?Would you say it makes sense to trade in a Series 6 for a Series 9 at this point when you just got an AppleCare+ replacement with a fresh battery recently?
Replace the battery, use for another year or two. Trade-in, sell private party for cheap or hand down and advise purchaser to replace the battery (they probably only have just enough time before it’s vintage at that point.I am tempted by this but also it bugs me to think I got it only 2 years ago. No particular features currently, and it’s my first Apple Watch. I wish they’d replace the battery but it’s not 80% yet. Thus I’m keeping it for now. I wasted several hours recently, first via apple support texting, then “escalate” to a phone call, then they advised taking it into the store, all for nothing (Store “Genius” advised to drain the battery to zero monthly or something like that… weird advice that he claims is on the apple web site but it’s not).Replace the battery, use for another year or two. What particular features are getting you to upgrade every two years?
I wear my Apple Watch every day and I’ve owned two: Series 2 and SE1.
Sold the Series 2 when the SE came out to a friend for $50. He got a bit over two years out of it AFTER it fell off his nightstand onto a time floor and cracked the display. He got a “rugged” case for it after that but doesn’t really use it now as the battery now suffers and it isn’t waterproof due to the fall.
No. It doesn’t make sense to make that trade in if your Watch does what you need it to.Would you say it makes sense to trade in a Series 6 for a Series 9 at this point when you just got an AppleCare+ replacement with a fresh battery recently?
I agree. We can all do our bit to stem that tide of hyper consumerism and not upgrade so often if it really isn’t needed.Perhaps my e-waste comment could have been worded more precisely. It was not the turning it in (although when it’s to a 3rd party then there are many unknowns about what happens to it) for credit that I was calling creating e-waste, but the frequency of doing so. (Trading in a Series 7 for a 9, just 2 years later.)
Yeah that five bucks really tipped the scales for me.
And it is completely ridiculous that Apple ignores specs and goes only offers the same trade-in for the maxed out version as for the base model. Works for base model watches and base model MacBooks I guess.
Hope you’re keeping AppleCare on that watch because I doubt we’ll see anything like it again.
Called today and low and behold they offed me an accessory within reason of course and now I have an Apple wallet inbound…and they just received my Ultra today...too bad they won't give me the new value..
