So all of you buy iPads to draw like your all artists? The average person would use it for what? Scanning their file cabinet and going paperless, writing notes etc.

Let’s not act like we are all artists who draw on these things like a kid in grade school.

Just because YOU don't, don't begrudge others. I've made a decent living with my 1st gen, decided it was time to invest again. Others may just like drawing on a tablet that doesn't require a laptop & tablet to lug around.

That's me.

Others do with what they want with the products they spend their money on, that they earned.

To each their own with their time & money.

Now I kind of wish we wouldn’t have pre ordered because UPS won’t get our orders here until after the Apple store opens....they’re never that quick to deliver. My wife will get her iPad I just placed the for before UPS gets here. But it would have been just my luck that there wouldn’t be any stock had we not pre ordered....

Cancelled my Best Buy order for a 12.9 256 LTE and just placed an order for pick-up today for a 12.9 512 LTE with the student pricing (as I am a grad student) for 1449. Couldn’t say no to the extra memory for $150.

Couldn’t justify the 1TB though.

Exactly.

Sam Harris put it perfectly. When a new model comes out society becomes dissatisfied with the one they have.

The thing isn’t even refined. It lacks edge is edge and apps end up with black borders.

What’s the point? Mine as well keep your older one.

Buying mine for mobile games, media consumption, and going to see how it is as a laptop replacement as i mostly just need it for google drive and a few other application. Xcode in the future would be nice though

Yep got a 256 LTE Space Gray 11 near Chicago for today, I’ll be returning my on the FedEx truck Wi-Fi only version. Decided to go all in and just pay for LTE this round with my carrier, $20 for “unlimited” 22GB of data.

I'm trying to stretch out when I get my next Pro. I missed out on the improvements with refresh rate from my old one, so with the extra power I am hoping that programs like Procreate will allow more layers for drawing with the 6 gigs. When Adobe pushes out their overly expensive subscription model programs, people will really want that extra 2 gigs. So the 1TB version is a strong consideration for some.

I’m using an iPad Air still, every day. It’s been over 5 years since I bought a new iPad.

So Im totally looking forward to this one.

Oh come on, like 95% of the most commonly used 3rd party apps wont be updated in a few weeks or at most a month or two!

Very smart RAM-wise (say she who deals with freezes and things in Procreate on the 2gb 2018 iPad). Enjoy it.

I’d love 6gb of RAM myself but have no need for than 256gb storage in an iPP.

Now on when it is sale? I think I’d find a need for a 2018 1TB iPP super quick. :p:D:p

12.9 256 silver + cellular and pencil ! may switch down to a 11" if the 12.9 feels too cumbersome.

Even though cheaper, I'm going to cancel my Costco order for instore pickup today of a different model. I decided to go for the 12.9" after all, as well as upgrade to the 1TB (total overkill, I know, but I actually do photography, so the extra RAM and larger storage space serves a tiny bit of purpose for me). Costco was not carrying that model in Space Gray, and I just really want Space Gray. And I want it NOW (instead of next week when Costco is shipping LOL). Now I'm just waiting to go pick up - hopefully this morning.

I just got my order through for in-store pickup for the Pencil 2 this morning. The employee last night told me to wait until 8am to try my order, but I tried when I got up at 5:45am and it didn't show availability but when I checked at 6:30am (AND after quitting and reopening the Apple Store app), it showed up for pickup today.

Yay! Now I can cancel my BHPhoto.com order and after I pick up my Pencil today I'll cancel the original Apple order which is out for delivery Thanksgiving weekend - yikes.

If I could figure out if BestBuy matches Costco's price, I might even be able to pick up the iPad today instead. :)

It ended up being 8am eastern for all of the US.

How long did it take everyone to write as neat and quickly as they did on paper? Weeks? Months?

Do you zoom in when writing?

Point is people can buy whatever the **** they want and it’s really none of your business. I am an art student as well as a medical assistant. Well worth it and I haven’t had an iPad for near 3 years since my last one was stolen. Just because YOU see no inherent value in the current iteration of the product, doesn’t mean we all should share your pessimistic view. I don’t care if it’s not truly edge to edge. It offers a bigger work space for me to do my digital art for school without the need to invest in a costly desktop and artist tablet like a Wacom.

Completely agree! I think for some people the 1TB makes absolute sense. I work remotely, so I travel a lot for work. I always use my side piece (lol) to watch movies, respond to emails, download music, etc. All that’s stuff.

As much as I would love to get the 1TB, I don’t think it is the level of power I need for the type of work I do.

Making some progress here:

Apple Pencil 2 - (Apple In-Store Pick Up Today)
Apple Smart Keyboard Folio - (Apple In-Store Pick Up Today)
Apple Smart Folio CG - (Not available until Monday in my area. Going to check the store at 10am b4 placing an online order)
iPad Pro 12.9" 256GB+LTE - Space Gray - (Best Buy In-Store Pick Up Fri. 11/9 for AT&T Next)

Glad I able to use my corporate & education discounts to save a little money on the accessories.
