AI is truly a beast of its own I’d argue, compared to a car, a smartphone, or a knife. AI has proven themselves to be sinister and dangerous, well outside of Hollywood fear mongering and propaganda. Furthermore, AI can self-evolve. This makes them unpredictable, and I bet people don’t want to use an unpredictable technology.

I would not mind AI if they are stable, predictable and reliable. Unfortunately AI, unless under heavy scrutiny, would not meet that criteria. AI is indeed useful, but I fear the consequences should AI become widespread.
Wait so compared to a car AI has proved itself to be dangerous? Cars cause 1.3 million people to die each year. About 100k people each year die from knife injuries. How many people have died due to AI so far? I must’ve missed the Terminator movie became a reality last night. Guess I’m not going to work this morning since Skynet is out there trying to get me.

Nothing that involves electronics or technology could be considered stable, predictable, and reliable. The level of complication is just way too high for that.

I‘m interested in a view things of it (the notification stuff, summaries and so on), but I really don’t need this image creation stuff (playground and emoji stuff) and the writing stuff.
I hope it‘s possible the enable/disable it one by one.

I’m located in the EU, so waiting for 18.4 to play around with it and see what I really want/need/use.
Yes not bad but I think you agree that it’s might not be worth it to replace a device only for that.

Standard (Google, Bing, etc) search has become so terrible that I'm finding myself going to ChatGPT more and more. That said, I have no need to have it baked into my OS.

AI can also assist a radiologist in reading your CT scan that may show the beginning of a tumor. It may help your Physician diagnose a disease based on your symptoms. AI isn’t bad, it’s a tool that can help humans do better. It can also, like anything, be misused by humans. Having it on a smartphone is a toy that people find interesting but it’s not very useful.

It is unlikely to ever be available in more than half of Europe, so it is useless

+1

There is also talk about AI being used for Diabetics with the pump. Because AI can adapt it can adapt to individual users where set algorthiums will not work for everyone. AI will allow the insulin pump to be even more effective and useful. Just like the internet, there is a ton of horrible stuff on there, but there is also so much good. AI will have the same thing and we will have to decide where the line is and is it worth it. I am on the fence at the moment.

Disabled. Not useful. Same with the cutout button thing. Ignore it. Really, a bunch of useless 'upgrades' that were heavily advertised on the 16 and I don't even know if they all showed up or not. Not in my use case and had no bearing on me getting the phone.

Phones have pretty much peaked as far as most common usage. It’s these “advances” or features that draw people to them depending on what your needs are. For some it’s a superb camera. For others it may be AI. No right or wrong, just get the phone that fits you best.

I discained…..umm disabled AI since my brains is better!
Im relieved to see many agree here!

Obviously We are tried of being hand-fed fake junk since we were young.

Will Apple Intelligence manage to turn off the lights in my living room automatically when I turn on the TV?
