Not sure that 5.8 inches to 6.1 inches (assuming X, XS or 11 pro to 12 Pro 6.1 inches) is much of a difference in screen size - or at least not $550 to $1099 worth of a difference.

5.8 to 6.7 is which is what i meant, but to answer that my wife has a Xr and it is a difference v my 11 pro in size.

If all these rumors are correct, then it looks like the iPhone 12 is going to offer 5G and nothing else. I haven't read of a single new feature other than 5G that would entice anyone with a X or newer to upgrade. I have a 6s and am barely justifying a new phone this year. I'm going to get the cheapest 12 there is and hope 2021 brings something new so I can upgrade and keep it for 5 years like my 6s.

New design and bigger screen for me. 6.5” is too small and after playing with 6.7” android phones it is a nice size increase for me. Also I only have 20gb left out of 256 so 512 for meeee

Those with X, XS or 11 pro who want a bigger screen, there's your anyone.

Yup, me lolol

I don't know about that.

Knowing Apple this year's design will be same body for 2021. They could give next year's iPhone a smaller notch to entice owners of the 12 series to upgrade. That's if Apple doesn't keep the same damn notch until 2022 (Could you imagine 5 freaking years with that notch?).

If they were to release an iPhone with a real edge to edge display then many wouldn't have a reason to upgrade for a long time. So why not sell you a smaller notch first?

I know that because this is how Apple works. They used the exact same bezels in the iPhone 6, 6s, 7 and 8. Then they launched the iPhone X. We could expect the same about the notch.

I'm kinda shocked Apple would go a 4th year in a row with the ugly notch. Apple is one of the largest companies on the planet, with extremely smart people running it, surely they could have found a way to reduce the notch size a bit. To sure everyone they can make changes and not just keep it to save money.

At first in 2017 the notch was ok, and acceptable, but it's almost 2021, and it looks really dated and annoying to still be there.
That would be the third year in a row. not Fourth. 2017 + 3(this years unreleased phones) equals 2020

I find it hard to believe that the ”pro” or ”x” feature would only be extra telephoto lens, Lidar, Face Id and more ram.

The Iphone X (or pro series) was supposed to be a showcase of future of the smartphone. Hence the added price premium.

therefore I am still hoping that Apple has planned something more.

Apple knows this... Their used to be more iOS features that separates the “pro” or upper end models from older iPhones.. but they no longer does this. Trying to bring more software feature parity between all their devices... The iPhone 12 pro line will have maybe more cameras. Bigger and better screens, probably faster wireless charging (maybe can charge other devices wirelessly as well).. 5g mmwave. New color. And could come with a longer Apple one service trial or discount. Not to mention it’s getting the new design. The new A14.. probably faster faceid that can also work at new angles. Louder speakers. Faster charging with cord.. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Qualcomm modems!!
that’s worth the upgrade by itself over this Intel crap

That's four generations, not three. Why are you not counting 2017 too? It's the first year with a notch. 2018 is the second and so on.
Because Apple didn’t go all in until the following year. It was only the iPhone X but you still had the release of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus with home buttons

LOL, come on man, it's 4 generations at this point;

-2017 = iPhone X ( first full redesigned iPhone in years )
-2018 = iPhone XS ( same front design )
-2019 = iPhone 11 Pro ( same front design )
-2020 = iPhone 12 Pro ( same front design )

Don't be an Apple apologist or cover for them, it just looks silly. I never understood why people defend mega billion dollar corporations. They are in big business, to make money and profits #1 above all us, if it saves them money to keep the same design for 4 generations, of course they'll do that, to make more money. But to say Apple cares about artistic deign, and building the best looking phone each year, is just not what they do.

The question is what can we expect for 2021 iPhone ? Can they push an extra year with same front design ? On non-pro models i'm afraid it's possible but on pro ones it would be a shame. Pro iPhone next year should at least have 120 Hz + reduced notch IMO.

Food for thought, the front design was basically unchanged from OG iPhone (2007) to iPhone 7 (2016). We got higher resolutions, different color bezel, bigger displays and TouchID but basic design remained the same.

It's depend what you consider basic design. IMO iPhone 4, 5, 6 and X introduced new designs.

We're discussing just the front design though. From OG to 7, it's pretty much the same with top and bottom bezels with home button on the bottom bezel.

If we're considering chassis as well, then the iPhone 12 should also be considered a new design (well, refinement of 4/5 but at least different from previous gen).

Different strokes I guess, but I really don't understand why people are so obsessed with "The Notch".

Me personally I find the "hole punch" front camera design waaay more ugly and distracting because it stands out so much, especially if it is asymmetrical like on the S10 (I tried that phone for six months). I'm fine if they keep the notch until truly underscreen cameras are available and reliable, but that's just me.
