Yeah, glad I bought it at $35!

Very nice features, however a landscape option for the keyboard would make this ideal. There MUST be a reason why they have not included this, maybe due to the modularity of the keyboard code (used for web, email, SMS and contacts...)

It's landscape, too. Use it all the time.
I can't think of anything on the iPhone that hasn't been done before. Its genius is that many little previously known things are melded together.

Watched the keyboard video and it convinced me not to get the first generation iphone. There's no way I'll be able to use those tiny keys with my big fingers. My Blackberry is an inch wider and I have problems with its keys. And speaking of the Blackberry, it works on EDGE and page downloads are plenty fast, photos and all. I don't understand what all the criticism is about with EDGE.
I think they will have a "Ringtone" tutorial by tomorrow with the release of the iPhone version of iTunes.

Still, they need to add two features right after release.
Voice dialing.
Ability to add your own ring tones.
Sometime in the future I'd like to see real iChat. For now text only when only connected to EDGE and text and voice when connected to the Internet.
AT&T also needs to follow T-Moble's lead on allowing call switch between the wireless network and the Internet. See:

Talk about kicking bu.. add that and you'll see even more people moving.
Each time I look at another one of these instructive videos I start thinking about eating my $175 early out fee at Verizon.![]()

What will happen if you are web browsing in landscape mode and tap the web address field? Will it force a flip to portrait to bring up the keyboard? Weird.![]()
Does anybody else find it interesting that YOU TOUCH THE SPACEBAR TO ACCEPT THE CORRECTED WORD, and you TOUCH THE SUGGESTED WORD TO BYPASS THE SUGGESTION AND STICK WITH YOUR ORIGINAL WORD?
True.
Not to happy to read though that as per Apple's usual battery disclaimer that the phone supports 300-400 charge cycles. For many people's use, that may be 1 - 1 1/2 yrs. How much will you have to pay Apple to change it out, assuming that the extended Applecare doesn't cover battery replacement.
Also not wild on the idea that I can't use songs or partial songs as ringtones or no voice dialing. I would think with the headphones or bluetooth headset voice dialing would be integrated.
And the question of call quality concerns me as well.
I'm not sure you actually watched the video. Did you really? That was sort of the point of the whole video. That the little predictive keyboard of the iphone is more accurate than the larger physical blackberry keyboards.
Well, enjoy your blackberry that you dislike. You could of course walk into an apple store and try the keyboard, but no, it won't work for you.

I guess I would think if it as being the other way around.
I'm not angry, just thought is seemed Bass Ackwards.
Well, I thought the same too, but did you notice that there's a little "x" symbol next to the suggested word? Not that it helps to type faster, but at least you can see what you have to tap to type you own word.Does anybody else find it interesting that YOU TOUCH THE SPACEBAR TO ACCEPT THE CORRECTED WORD, and you TOUCH THE SUGGESTED WORD TO BYPASS THE SUGGESTION AND STICK WITH YOUR ORIGINAL WORD?![]()

A landscape keyboard is not as good as everyone thinks when you are using your one finger or two thumbs. I remember using the widescreen keyboard on Magic Cap and found it SLOWER AND MORE ERROR PRONE than smaller onscreen keyboards because your thumbs have to travel further distance across the screen. It's slow, uncomfortable and less accurate believe it or not. The only time a bigger keyboard becomes better is when you can use all your fingers to type.
Consider what it would be like to type on a regular computer keyboard that was twice is large... You'd have to move your whole palm across the keyboard every time you wanted to type a word... the same is true for a landscape touch keyboard on the iPhone. Wider does not equal better..
Wish my (physical) keyboard keys could grow intelligently. That's cool.
All the damn R&D spent on predictive typing -- if they'd just made the damn keyboard work in landscape it wouldn't be necessary. I'll "trust the keyboard" when it's bigger. The fact that they had this video ready for release after the reviews came out -- when they knew they'd be dinged for the keyboard -- indicates they are aware that the typing thing is a real problem.
