The S4 will have 99%(only cause no FM radio) of everything I want from a smartphone at the moment. The iP5 doesn't and I doubt the 5S will. Many people feel the same. I think the iPhone is lagging behind when it comes to having a stronghold. I see iPhone sales being balanced with other top tier phones in the near future.

Ok I have seen this comment about the HTC One too many times from iPhone users. NO THIS IS NOT THE BEST ANDROID PHONE TO DATE. It may be one of the best looking, but read some reviews before you call it the best android. The new sense is crap, and it makes the phone lag. Sure looks are a big part of a phone, but the UI is what makes a phone great, and that is something the htc one does not do. So please all you iphone user that just want metal body phones please stop saying the htc one is the best android phone.

Have you read the reviews about sense 5? They are all crap. All the ones that I have seen say it slows the One down, and it is down right ugly. Touchwiz is not great either, but at least it does not slow the phone down.

Actually, I have read the reviews and my opinion is partially based on them. The articles I've seen on Android Central, Gizmodo, CNET and Engadget basically range from "this is a really good smartphone" to "this is the best smartphone money can buy".

In two of them they specifically mention that sense 5 does NOT slow down the One so I'd be interested if you provided links to a credible, nationally recognized site that says otherwise.

However, I've yet to see one in person of course and I'm interested to see what real world experiences people have. As I mentioned, the camera on the One seems to be somewhat of a downside to the device.

Those of us in the US will get the same Snapdragon 600 in the GS4 as we do in the HTC One....

And according to early benchmarks, the HTC One actually out performs the GS4 (both versions).

I'm excited to check out the One - VERY sleek looking, same 1080p screen, though HTC goes LCD (which is my preference over AMOLED) and I like that they are trying something different with the camera.

As long as the battery life is decent, the HTC One will be my next Android phone - though I'm not up for contract until September, so Google/Motorola still have time to 'wow' me.

The NA versions of s2 that came with snapdragon 3 were much smoother than htc sensation and evo 3d despite sharing the same processor.

Similarly, the htc one x lagged bad at stock, despite sense 4.0 feverishly killing apps left right and center, the home screen carousel was visibly laggy with no widgets.

On the other hand, incorporating the same snapdragon s4, the s3 running stock touchwiz felt much smoother with barely any launcher redraws compared to one x.

I doubt the story will be different this year. Htc has already alienated me with their "not allowed to turn off suckfeed" compared to Samsung simply providing an even easier way to turn off all their "gimmicks" that everyone hates here, with a notification shade menu. Also the s4 will definitely be great to use stock and if anyone wants a custom rom, you don't have to goto samsungdev.com and hand over your warranty, and can also flash stuff much easier with out worrying about s-on off.

Well here is one to start http://m.gizmodo.com/5990214/htc-sense-50-review-better-but-also-worse

Would you like more? Also the sites you listed reviews from most of them give good reviews to devices that a new. Something different from the last version. Samsung on other hand did not need to make anything new because they had it down from the last phone. They said the same things about the iphone 5 just being the same old same old, and look where the iphone 5 has gone.

Yes apple is lagging behind with some features but after trying some android devices from HTC Samsung and LG I've got to say that it's not enough for me to move.
those devices doesn't feel complete. kies is a bad software and nothing really impressed me besides better application communication with the operating system (like you can share photos to whatsapp from anywhere).
I hope apple improve this situation in iOS along with the lock screen, thats the only things bothering me at the moment.

anyway the S4 did not impress me at all.. most of those features are useless (I bet Samsung devs watched Black Mirror and thought it's gonna be revolutionary).

I think Apple at this point does not have anything to worry about. The S4 and HTC one are coming out, but really all Apple has to worry about is the S4. The HTC One is nothing special, and will not really cut into the sales of the iphone or S4. Sure the One looks really good, but with just a ok camera, weak battery, and sense 5 looking like a mess I don't think Apple or Samsung have anything to worry about. The iphone 5s will sell like crazy because it Apple next iPhone, and the S4 will most likely be even or popular then the S3. I think we are coming to the day were samsung is the only android phone that is going to battle with Apple in the smartphone market. Sure HTC can keep releasing phone, but they are never really going to sell like iphones will.

With all that said I don't think either the S4 or One can come any were close to my Note 2. The battery will out last both of those without question. The note 2 is just as fast and both, and the camera looks great. Until the note 3 comes out android phone on the market will be any better.
