hmm i am using a iMac core duo running TIGER more then 90% of times , to slow for most of you guys i know and on top of the slow processor it has only 2 GB ram and a old ati x1600 GPU with 128mb vram and if that wasn't enough it has this small 17" old fashioned matte lcd display, but do i consider to upgrade ...no not with current offerings
and my iMac walks flawless through final cut pro and avid , so no need to upgrade only to get a bit more performance and safe a couple seconds and at least i dont have to deal with a glossy display

heck i even still use my eMac's and iMac G3's for lots of things , just because i buy all my software and older versions do the job as well and are cheaper too

You guys get way way way too focused on tech specs. Who the hell cares if it's "old tech" if it still does what you want it to do?

Maybe because the old tech does not cut it

I think a Radeon 5750 is a piece of crap even for a casual gamer which is what I consider myself. This would not be a big deal if you weren't essentially locked in for the life the of computer but it is at least 3 generations behind and I need all the power I can get.

Not everybody just got into Apple products because of their flashy iPods buddy, relax. If they want to wait for an upgrade, let 'em. You don't have to make it your personal mission to make sure people buy their iMacs as soon as possible.

Ya man, 5850 and lynnfield is totally 3 generations behind!

MBP people waiting months after sandy bridge was released.

Actually, MBPs were updated four days after the release of dual core Sandy Bridge CPUs. MBPs were one of the first SB laptops to ship in volume too. Yes, there were a handful of quad core SB laptops released in CES but the supply was very limited (most stores sold out in less than a week). The chipset issue made it even worse as users had to return their new computers and resellers pulled SB computers away.

There's a news story out that you can order that Big Mac, off the menu, made with two quarter pounder patties . . . ask for the McKinley Mac and see if the counter folks know the "off the menu items."

Yeah you can order that. FYI it's not off the menu here in Alaska.
