Apple is right to dumb down things

Because most people don’t understand and start complaining. Case in point, the Indexing. A new iOS installation always indexes everything, probably the indexing is more thorough in iOS 27. But most people have started complaining about it on every forum imaginable, plus I even saw people contacting Apple Support to complain about it, for a beta, no less.

I won’t be surprised if they hide the indexing message in a future beta after seeing everyone’s reaction.

Try reading my post above. There was always Indexing happening following a reset or software upgrade. But now, since Apple shows the Indexing status in the settings page, people are freaking out and complaining all the time that it is taking so long.

I actually like that they show it’s happening, but I sure do agree with you. Can you imagine how many users would stroke out if there was a status bar? They’d convince themselves that their precious devices are failing and crash the internet with their tears.

That is good feedback. I just submitted it in the feedback app, hope others do it, too.

Dumbing down can also just be dumb. Then it needs fixing. Like iOS 27 is finally adding a separate volume for alarms.

I often feel as though I take things too seriously with respect to Apple products and technology in general.

But when I read the forums I’m further convinced that I’m definitely on the laid back side.

The amount of moral outrage from some because Apple doesn’t do exactly what they want is concerning sometimes.

I do like information about what the iPhone is doing, but as you said, some don’t handle the information well.
