There was not going to be a price drop. $1000 is now the norm, thanks to the iPhone X and Samsung following suit with the $1000 Note 9.

Yes, ridiculous, indeed, but if we're honest about it, mid-range phones at reasonable prices are really quite good these days.
Supply and demand - as demand goes up, so do prices.

$699 was never a reality, just a rumor. And the XR is cheaper than an 8 Plus while offering way more. Personally, I'm a little confused by how similar the XR is to XS in features, are you paying that much more for just OLED and a second camera?
And stainless steel instead of aluminum

3D Touch, stainless steel body, dual lens camera, OLED, I've never thought gold was an attractive option before, but goddamn that color looked great in the keynote.

Well... I am wondering if they will gimp the RAM on the XR.

I mean, this was a weak update across the board AND no price drop at all? Hard pass, across the board.
Apple has 2-3 years between major updates. With filler, or removal of features like headphone ports in the off years. It's at least a positive as long as functions weren't lost :p

yes it is.... Personally I am very disappointed at the fact there is no fast charging included in the box at these prices, Apple is robbing its customer base and that is sad.
The xR has wireless charging? Isn’t the back aluminum?

10s Max in 512 GB, plus tax, plus Applecare+ or AppleCare+theft and actually using the incidents at $99 each or whatever it is and welcome to the $2k phone.

XR is now 59€ more expensive than an 8 Plus (current pricing). Who's buying an 8 Plus with such a small difference?

I get that the XS and Max offer a more luxury experience, I'm sure you'll notice in real life. Either the XS is too expensive, or the XR is just great value. Probably a little bit of both.

If dual-cameras and higher resolution are small differences for you.
