No price drop. Xr starts at $749 instead of $699. 64GB base storage. Xr not available until October.

Wait wait, you'd be happy with a price of $699, but adding $50 and it's Apple "giving us the finger"? Haha, thats called overreacting.

XR is now 59€ more expensive than an 8 Plus (current pricing). Who's buying an 8 Plus with such a small difference?

I get that the XS and Max offer a more luxury experience, I'm sure you'll notice in real life. Either the XS is too expensive, or the XR is just great value. Probably a little bit of both.

I bought a 256gb 8 Plus for myself as soon as the Apple Store went back online.

Why do people act like companies owe them something? All Apple did was fail to offer a product that you find satisfactory. Therefore, as a consumer you can choose not to buy it. It’s not a personal affront.

The best iphone to get IMO is a new iPhone 8 Plus 256 in March. IOS 12 will have gone through a few bug smashes by then and should be at 12.2 and you'll get a solid model that's had over a year of manufacturing tweeks to work out any of those bugs. Yep. IP8+ is the one.

The X might be my final iPhone if there’s no ideas left for hardware upgrades. Definitely not a worthy upgrade. It’s basically the X but with 30 minutes of more battery life. Big whoop.

It’s a typical S cycle, but with an extra model and a bigger size. In the past, the S cycle wasn’t much of a reason to upgrade either.

That’s nice and all, but why? I care more about the reasoning than the actual purchase.

I'll explain the reasoning. This was not an impulse purchase, it was the plan all along. I was waiting for the $100 price drop to buy the unlocked version.

1- Ever since the X was released last year, which I bought and returned, I have zero interest in the new design. I highly dislike the notch, I find it more distracting than the "huge" bezels on the old form factor. In the old form factor with a black front, I really cancel the bezels out. With the notch, I find it very invasive of the screen and distracting.

2- I also dislike the current status of Face ID (before the release of the X I really wanted the onscreen touch ID). I'm open to the idea, but I have zero interest in it right now based on current performance.

I have to replace my 6s Plus as it is giving me too many problems and it has issues with the camera (blurry on corners, sometimes it is shaking). Knowing full well that 1) I have zero interest in the new form factors and 2) that the iPhone 8 is the last of its kind, I knew full well that I would be buying the 8+ in September 2018 with the intention of keeping it until ~2021-22. I would hope that by then, Face ID will be heavily improved and that Apple somehow finds a way to decrease the size of the notch or provide an option to add bars on the screen to even the screen out.

In any case, when the day comes to replace my new 8+, I'm certain that it will be much better than what was released yesterday.

No price drop was one thing, but to me the bigger deal is that they aren't including USB-C cable and a fast charger. Still giving us their 99 cent power brick and 6 year old USB-Lightning cable on a phone that goes up to $1500.

Seriously, take a $5 hit on your massive margins and give people a decent out of box experience. I wonder how long the Xs Max takes to fully charge with the 5w charger.

Apple has really downgraded their first use experience over the years. Even on the notebooks - you no longer get the power outlet extension on $3k laptops, you have to remember to buy that before you leave the store for $20. I still love Apple hardware, but I hate how much they are nickel and dime-ing us now as one of the richest companies in the world.

The first space upgrade to 128 GB is only 50 dollars. So it’s the same price for what most users would pay for in the iPhone 8 anyways. With a larger screen and newer design. It’s quite reasonably priced, if anything.

LOL OP. I watched the keynote. I'm still choking from the price of that XSM 512GB for $1449. With tax, I'm fingered at $1507. This is crazy. But, I'm still purchasing it. It is what it is.

Yup, this is Apple in a nutshell. People will buy their phones even if they raise it to $2k (expecting next year) because it's Apple! It's magic! They always work and never break!

Seriously, not a single question to Tim, he is just doing his job and milking the customers out of all the money he can.

10s Max in 512 GB, plus tax, plus Applecare+ or AppleCare+theft and actually using the incidents at $99 each or whatever it is and welcome to the $2k phone.
It's actually a $71K phone when you add in the cost of the 2018 BMW M4 accessory. ;)

Well, I'm able to purchase the XS Max only because of a cash incentive plan I have at work which will pay for the XS Max in full. The iP X did not sell well compared to other previous iPhone models. In fact, in this past year, I've seldom seen people with the X. I saw more people with the iP7 and iP8. My guess, and it's only a guess, that the XS Max and higher priced XR with 512GB won't be popular with buyer's because of the price. The XR and iP7 and iP8 will probably sell more because of it's affordability.

Not sue. Plus had a dual canera, 3d touch, wireless charging. It is a stripped out cersion to make it a budget phone

$699 was never a reality, just a rumor. And the XR is cheaper than an 8 Plus while offering way more. Personally, I'm a little confused by how similar the XR is to XS in features, are you paying that much more for just OLED and a second camera?
