Another perfect fit for 00 here. I also used a knife on my other Macbook and that worked. These screws aren't drilled in, they're actually very loose. You could probably use a huge screwdriver if you have a steady hand and the screwdriver had a sharp tip.

My $0.99 set of screwdrivers from WalMart opened it up, size 00 for me as well.

But as close as the fit is, I can completely understand a cheap set not opening the case up. They're done quickly in an assembly line, and things don't always come out the same.

Well, before even getting to page two of this thread, I unplugged everything from my MBP 17" and flipped it over to test this out for myself cause if Apple really did lie, I was going to be mad. Well, I forgot to shut it down so when I dropped the battery out, I lost everything I was running before. I still can't get my nice little transparent clock to re-appear on the desktop... Anyway, I pulled out my screwdriver set I bought from Radio Shack and, using 00, I successfully pulled the cover off the RAM compartment and even pulled one of the chips out just for fun. No problem. If 00 doesn't work, buy a quality set of drivers. It should work.

Apple's Lies!!

Why do they lie on the site and say that it's a size 00 Phillips you need when you actually need a eyeglass repair kit size screwdriver?

And people who believe that you need a size 00, pls stop spreading the lies unless craftsman has their sizes wrong.

Am I wrong here?

Are you sure you bought a size 00 screwdriver...? I went to my little tool kit to look, and it specifically says it's 00 screwdriver. I purchased s $12 with small screwdrivers a month ago for the same specific as you: to upgrade my RAM.

I don't think Apple's the one who lied, but rather the brand of screw drivers you've gotten or something. Have you compared your 00 to other brands?

Fair enough, I know we all have times when we just need to yell at something. :)

And that is why you should never sit in front of a computer connected to the internet when you're angry. Especially not if you're angry at other people...

Or what works for me: write the e-mail (or whatever), leave it in the drafts folder, go away from the computer for 30 minutes. Read over, and in 95% of the cases I thank myself so much for not having sent the mail in question.

All about ANGER MANAGEMENT ;c)
