Other Apple May Not Have a 5G iPhone Next Year

I’m not sure that would matter to most people. Honestly LTE is more than fast enough for what 80-90% of the population use their phones for.
The first 4G/LTE phone came out in 2010, and Apple never released 4G/LTE until 2 years later with the iPhone 5.
It is quite possible that 2021 brings the first 5G iPhone.

I just see so many people waiting for next year because of 5G... Lots will be disappointed I think.
100 percent agree... this is what I have been saying but people seem to get upset at me for saying it. I also don’t think next year is going to be what people are expecting it to be
It more so about capacity than it is 5G and this point. 5G is going to expand rapidly this next year especially with certain provides who have a better path forward. If Apple doesn't have 5G Iphones this year then they will take a major hit . I wouldn't be shocked if the SE replacement has 5G

If the chips aren’t efficient enough and the coverage isn’t good enough they for sure won’t put it in.

100% disagree. The whole reason Apple settled with Qualcomm is that Intel wasn't going to be able to meet their timeline and they needed Qualcomm to be able to ship 5G iPhones in 2020.
But wasn't that the whole point of making peace with Qualcomm and giving them that huge payout? so Qualcomm can produce a 5G chip for next years phone?
Qualcomm already has a 5g chip. Apple will use Qualcomm chips next year. It will have 5g. Though it's wholly unnecessary.
*IF* we get in-screen touch, my guess is that it wouldn't be until the 2021 new form factor redesign, with new screen & little/no notch

Redesign should be next year not 2021. 3 year cycle seems to be what we are on now.
The article brings up another good point....most people probably don’t know and don’t care about 5g. The vast majority of people don’t analyze every spec like techie people, whether they be the good Apple people of this community or in Android. When Apple does release it, they will talk it up as the best thing since the triple camera system , no doubt
It will be 2-3 years before 5g is viable for a significant portion of users.
Sorry but chances are, Apple will release an 11S (not new form factor) in 2020; just look towards the past 3 form factor changes for the probable answer:
4/4S/5/5S then 6/6S/7/8 then X/XS/11/(11S)? AND THEN the 12 ... in 2021.

People keep referencing the 8 plus/ X of 2017 as to why next year will be a complete redesign. I think this reasoning is ill founded. 2017 was an exception for a variety of reasons IMO. They were facing pressure from the several previous years of no design changes to a phone containing huge bezels in a world of shrinking bezels. Leaks at that time indicated that Apple released the X one year ahead of when it planned, which is probably why we did not get a plus model of the X. It was also the decade anniversary and I don’t think Apple could resist the “X” referencing it. But they couldn’t release the “7s” alongside it, so they had to call it the “8”.
Anyone expecting a X, XS, 11, 12, 12s is mistaken I think. I also don’t think Apple will go to a numberless system, as it becomes to difficult to differentiate the lineup. Will they’re be changes next year, sure, I just think there is way too much expectation as to what that change will be....Take rumors with a big grain of salt
Just because 5G is slow to roll out in the United States doesn’t mean that is the case in the rest of the world so not having at least one 5G capable phone available next year will just encourage people like me to move to Android.
